“An absolute Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We go to Deauville most years, and in the main styayed at the Barriere Hotels which are fine if you get a flash deal price. We couldnt ,so stayed somewhere (reviewed elsewhere) in Deauville on the way out, but stayed in Villers sur Mer on the way back.
What a difference ! Only thee miles from Deauville down the Coast Road, and a lovely little typical French Town with everything you need.
As to the Domainae de Villers, just out of the town, perched up a Hill and looking greatr.
A wonderful view, great gardens, lots of room to sit and a very welcoming staff... oh and lots of room to park. The rooms were a very good size, the Samsung TV (withg DVD) worked and was clear, and the bed very comfortable.
The price very reasonable Eur 132 for a double rtoom, and breakfast would have been Eur 19 extra but we ambled down to the town and had an all in breakfast for Eur 6. !!

We hope to go there again.

“OK room, horrible bathroom, OK breakfast, service poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

My heading covers the points I want to address:
1) Room is not my taste being a little chintzy/twee - but OK size and OK mattress.
2) Bathroom is just horrible - all quarry tiles, appalling lighting for anything - a couple of lights in ceiling near mirror creating shadows everywhere, shower head that fitted directly vertically at about 6 foot hight so you had to hold it all the time - when will damned hotel managers test their own rooms out and see what basic idiocy they have put in.
3) Breakfast quality was fine
4) Service for breakfast another matter - one day we had an appointment which meant we had to leave around 745am, with breakfast room serving from 8am. We went down to see if anything was out at 730am - it was all ready except some of the hot food, so we started gettng a bowl of cereal and were stopped by the breakfast lady - when my wife said we had to go to the hospital for an appointment, there was " I am sorry" - sorry, my ... - what was the big deal allowing a bowl of cereal which was out - I lost it and expletives were said, On our return I told the hotel reception it was a disgrace - but simply told 8am is the rule, but if we had given prior warning it may have been OK - still do not see why the problem when everything was ready. So left one day earlier. Previous service was also a joke - no help in taking an ironing board and iron up to the room, the next day we asked for it again - told this time there was no board and we could use the bed for ironing on. Sorry for Euro 185 per night - this sort of attitude is pathetic. The customer is absolutely not king here is they provide any inconvenience.
Conclusion - never again.

“Wonderful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

Spent a family week-end in Villers in July. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, my first impression on the phone when I booked the 3 rooms was confirmed during our stay! The location is very good, good view, just a couple of minutes from the center of Villers and the beach, away from the main road, so quiet when relaxing in the garden or on the balcony of your bedroom. The hotel provides a very nice swimming pool as well, with a shallow side very practical for younger children who want to play. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and very spacious, most of them with large balcony.
The restaurant was very good too, good service and fine cuisine.
Not very cheap, but will definately go back for another week-end treat.

“A good Norman hotel near Deauville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

A fine and peaceful traditional hotel in the Normandy countryside. Rooms are large and generally comfortable, each creatively decorated in a style of its own ranging from contemporary to marine and art deco. The overall atmosphere is that of a traditional Norman villa.

The restaurant is quiet impressive too. Dinner was very professionally prepared to a gourmet standard. Breakfast is also fine with plentiful choice. Moreover, there’s a bar with a substantial and comfortable seating space with views over the countryside and the seashore.

Didn’t actually realize it had only three stars until seeing this on tripadvisor. I’d definitely give it four based on my experience. Wouldn’t say it lacks soul either. While it’s not so outstanding to the point of making you wish to spend your entire time at the hotel, it certainly possesses its own unique character and appeal.

The only problem with this hotel is that it’s not within the walking distance to anywhere that matters. This makes it appear somewhat lonesome. Not much of an issue, of course, if you come by your car, as most visitors do. Deauville and Honfleur are within minutes drive away.

“Hotel with no soul”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

My husband and I have just returned from the Easter weekend, having stayed two nights in the only room left, a suite, at the Domaine de Villers near Deauville. We took the car, and thankfully with the help of Sat Nav. we managed to find the hotel! It's located on a hill overlooking the countryside and a road. (We had the only room overlooking the sea to the left). Everything is immaculately clean,(I am extremely fussy!) and in very good order, as I think it must be a fairly new hotel, and everything is very well run, and well kept. Unfortunately it rained for most of the weekend, and as the driveway is sort of clay/shingle, there were muddy puddles everywhere, which made a terrible mess inside the entrance of the hotel, and certainly in our car!. The reception staff were courteous, although no-one offered to help us with our bags, and there's no lift. The bar area is very large and decorated in a burgundy art deco style. There's a large open fireplace at one end. The dining room is fairly small by comparison, and again quite dark. Breakfast was okay, fresh fruit, boil-your-own eggs, croissants etc and the staff were very helpful. Dinner was very good. They have an excellent chef. The wi-fi didn't work in our room, but it did if you sat on the landing area with your laptop. I think we were out of range! There's an entry keypad on the main door for security, if you return late at night. The numbers are changed each day, which you're given with your key. There's a caravan park on one side of the hotel, but you don't actually see any caravans from the hotel. There's an indoor pool which we didn't use, as there was enough wet weather for our liking! All in all we had a very pleasant stay, but the place has no soul, no atmosphere, and no personality. We might stay again, but we're in no rush to do so.
