“Great value, and very friendly staff”

On the outskirts of a small village, the hotel's ONLY downside is that it's a short drive from the motorway and you have to negotiate several roundabouts - I got lost even with sat nav on board. Once there, however, the greeting was warm and friendly and the room, clean and comfortable. It's also very quiet. The restaurant serves very good Alsatian dishes, and there are lovely views over the garden. Very reasonably priced. Get there early to make sure you get a good parking spot.

“It may only be a 2* hotel but a 5* experience!”

We booked this on the reviews and were not disappointed. The hotel is very well situated and easy to locate. Reception staff were friendly and check in was quick. Unfortunately our first room smelt strongly of smoke and although we were happy to air it and requested a spray the receptionist immediately transferred us to another room. Both rooms were small but nicely furnished and well maintained. The flat screen TV had numerous French and German channels but no English, this did not bother us for one night. Internet was available but not sure of the charge. The small town is pretty enough but there were few if any places to eat or drink. We only found one bar that opened early in the morning and for an hour or so early evening. However we had already decided to use the hotel restaurant. Before dinner we sat in the lovely garden with plenty of tables and a children's play area with trampoline at the far end, far enough away not to disturb. The busy restaurant was the 5* bit! Wow what food, better than some Michelin restaurants we have eaten at. My husband had the 26€ set menu. The ½ size tart starter was fantastic it was a waifer thin pizza type base with smoked ham and cheese - I have to admit that my diet went out the window and I ate a fair portion of it. He followed with a 3 meat stew. He loved it especially the gravy and sliced crispy potato topping, very similar to an old fashioned Lancashire hotpot. He finished with a decent chunk of local smoked Munster cheese with cumin seeds. I had the veal cordon bleu; this was so different to the usual offering and certainly not a frozen ready meal. The lovely pink tender veal was stuffed with a smoked ham and cheese sauce and lightly bread crumbed, this was accompanied with delicious Lyonnais potatoes and a wonderful carrot and cumin patty and a mild forest mushroom sauce- delicious and for 17€ very good value. The continental breakfast was varied and plentiful. Checking out was fast, took longer to manoeuvre out of the fairly restricted parking bays. There is however plenty parking along the road for larger vehicles. We will certainly return to this lovely hotel.

“Terrific restaurant with 52 clean & airy rooms attached!”

We stayed for 6 nights and found the hotel all we could have asked for, with one exception - 37 tv channels an not one in English (sorry!). All the staff and management are excellent and very helpful. Restaurant offers very good value as well as delightful food. Rooms are basic (it's 2-star remember) but clean and well aired. Car parking on site is a lottery but if you miss it there's plenty of room on the street. Bischwihr is a good 7km from Colmar but easy to drive (your GPS will take you to free parking in the city) and all the other 'must visit' places such as Eguisheim and Riqueville are aksi close. If you want to tour Alsace and don't want to stay in a large town you can't go far wrong here. One quirk. Check-in is 4pm and it means 4pm. The reception desk closes from 12 - 4 and even the peaceful garden is locked away.

“Great value and wonderful ambiance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Fantastic little hotel outside of Colmar in a beautiful little village.
What we liked:
- clean, comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms
- very calm ambiance with lovely garden that hotel guests could relax in
- ping pong table, trampoline and play set for kids
- good restaurant for dinner (authentic alsatian food) and one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever seen
- price was really great for the quality
What could have been better:
- Service was a little slow at times but not bothersome
- parking can be a challenge if there are a lot of people at the hotel
- it is a few kilometers from Colmar so you definately need a car
- rooms (at least on the top floor) are small but cozy

Overall, I would definately return and recommend this hotel to friends - particularly anyone on a budget but it doesn't feel like a budget hotel at all. We were also given a room exactly as requested (with a bathtub and double bed) despite booking the night before online.

Room Tip: If booking through a website, put in the comments if you want a bathtub, a double bed, etc.

“Cosy and welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

The relais is at 9 km from Colmar. You need the car to get here and to move ,i haven't seen any bus stop around. The car park is free and there's enought space. The hotel is very clean and very nice to look at. Quiet and silent as a relais should be. The restaurant downstairs is very good, i raccomand to have your dinner here. Bakeries and bars are a bit far away, so better to have breakfast in.
