“One of the highlights of our honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2011

We wanted to stay in a nicer place then a traditional climbers haunt while we were climbing in nearby Rodellar and really had an incredible stay.

Eva, one of the owners, absolutely spoiled us with wine, roses, and homemade meals that left us crawling back to the room we were so full. The scenery and location are perfect and when we lost a climbing day to rain Eva steered us to adventurous winemakers, sightseeing, and castles that we would never have found on our own.

We are so grateful that we stayed at Hosteria de Guara, it makes a great home base for the region and if you are staying up in Rodellar would make for a really special 'treat-night' away from the campground scene.

Room Tip: Book online and get good directions. ;)

“Excellent hotel in Somontano wine region”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

We staid two nights in this family hotel and we are looking forward to go again next year. The staff was very helpful and organised a visit at the bodegas of Viñas del Vero. They also gave some good tips of where to go.
The hotel is clean and comfortable and well kept.
The breakfasts are very good and the diner was also very good with a good value for money.
The rooms are large with small terrace, airco and large bathroom.

“Extraordinary service, setting, and comfort. Relaxing inside and out.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2010

We stayed here two nights for a rural respite from touring Spain's cities, and were stunned by how beautiful and welcoming this hidden gem is. The hosts were welcoming to English-speakers, and helped us to plan outings, hikes, and museum tours for our nature-loving children. Locals also drop into the cafe, and birding enthusiasts breakfasted early on the veranda. We sipped delicious local wine on the balcony overlooking the beautiful village of Bierge, and dined on extraordinary, carefully prepared food in the dining room. We'll return to Spain soon, and this will be our first reservation, for many more nights, we hope!

“In the middle of nowhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2008

Run by three sisters Ana ,Rosa & Eva with Mum in the kitchen, this most welcoming small hotel is placed in the middle of stunning scenery in a remote part of Northeastern Spain.

Very comfortable simple rooms are complemented by fine food.

This place epitomises the welcome one receives in rural Spain.

Excellent value

“Sunsets and Fine Wines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2007

We stayed at Hosteria de Guara for a few days in November and were made to feel very welcome by Eva and Anna, who both speak English and French and were very knowledgeable about the area. The hotel was beautifully presented and immaculately clean. At the end of cold November days exploring the stunning countryside we would return to warm rooms, a log burning stove in the friendly bar and excellent local food and wine.
My partner is a keen birdwatcher and was really pleased to find wallcreepers and lammergeiers at several places close to the hotel.
There are also ancient churches with beautiful murals, cave paintings and wineries to visit in the area.
With the frosty mornings, blue skies and fabulous sunsets we chose a great time to explore this lovely region of Spain but maybe we will return in the summer so we can enjoy the pool too.
