And at breakfast, after trying to order a cappucino, we overheard the head waitress tell the Chinese waiter "No, never say we have cappuccino, you want to make 40 cappuccinos? Just tell them we don't have cappuccino"

Obviously a Hotel with a coffee problem...

Schloss Hotel is on the lake of Lucern. It is very quite and has a private beach. Meals are available in the Swiss Chalet on the other side of the street. Restaurant has a waiter from Cambodia providing an excellent service and very fluent in French. Food is very good with a large choice. A charming place to spend a few days. Check prices because lower prices than the internet price were applied at the hotel.

What I remember best about this hotel is not the rooms, nor the beds, but the beautiful ambience of the location and the piano bar. The rooms and beds and bathroom was just fine for us. Nothing stood out as intolerable. Our favorite part of this hotel was our evening at the beautiful hotel piano bar across the street. It was built in a 500 + year old swiss chalet and the charm/character were indescribable! We got to know the bartender that evening and it turns out he is from the Dominican Republic originally. We had a very interesting conversation once we got him to open up, and just LOVED it there. It is a memory my husband and I will not forget. The location on the lake - phenomenal. We booked this resort through www.booking.com and got a great deal on it! I would love to go back but Switzerland is just too expensive, period, no matter what the exchange rate. I loved the medieval decor in the hotel as well. I love places with character and charm and this place definitely has it!

On our way from Geneva to Schwyz and after a full day of sightseeing, the Schloss Hotel was the perfect option.

Registration at reception was efficient and we were given immediately information on all the facilities (heated indoor swimming pool and spa-options) and where to locate these. Inform the hotel when booking if you intend to arrive late, as after our arrival reception closed. However, as this chain has another 4 hotels nearby, reception is centralised and info is at all times available via the room phone.

Our room was amazing, clean and cosy while big and had a real chalet feel to it without being too dark. The bathroom was modern and there was ample cupboard space. The balcony and view on to the lake and mountains was a delight. The lake-side garden had ample seating areas while a pedalo is freely available to guests.

Breakfast was okay, but somehow we expected 'more' - especially better coffee! Based on our breakfast experience, I don't know if we would have dinner here, though a one course was around 25-30 Euro.

This is a perfect place to relax after a busy day in Luzern (only 16 minutes away), though there is not much to be done in Merlischachen itself. We went to Kussnacht (next village) to look at Carl Jung's house, only to discover that he lived in another Kussnacht, on another lake, nearer Zürich!

Schwyz, historic centre for the Swiss nation, is just 25 minutes away while Einsiedeln, another popular tourist (and spiritual) destination, is 45 minutes away.

We would definitively come back to this hotel when visiting this area, especially as the rate with booking.com was advantageous.
