“Great experience....”

After having a bad experince at The Marriott Wentworth Resort in Portsmouth NH, don't waste your money on that resort, I had reservations about booking another Marriott Resort, however logistics and ameneties led me to this property and I am glad we made the choice. The resort is beautiful and very well kept. We had a two room suite on the 12th floor, overlooking the intercostal waterway and the city and the views were great. You dont directly see the ocean although visable from a small angle but you do get to see the sunset over palm beach or west palm beach and its very pretty at night. The suite was spacious very well kept with a very nice wrap around balcony , great for watching the sunset or eating breakfast. The staff were excellent and service everywhere from valet parking to maid service was outstanding. The front desk was outstanding unlike the horrible experience I had at the wentworth by the sea in portsmouth NH. No noisy a/c units here and very little noise from outside as the rooms were pretty soundproof as advertised. Breakfasts were very reasonably priced as was lunch. Dinner at the 3800 ocean club a bit on the expensive side but the food was outstanding on all accounts. We had two dinners there with six people each time and everyone loved the meals. Drinks are on the expensive side here. The beach was right out front and very well kept. Both pools were fine and well kept and at this time of year not too crowded. The only negatives were the required valet parking at 20.00 a night and the charges for internet access at 9.95 a day plus 1.44 in taxes for about $11.38 a day for internet use if your not a silver or gold satr member. Seriously now, charging over $400.00 a night for a room and you have to add $ 11.38 a day for internet use, join the 21st century, there is no need to charge that much for internet service. Also a lot of construction going on next door, building a marriott vacation club and the street in front is being redone, although as I mentioned the rooms are fairly soundproof so the noise was never a problem. Those are my only complaints, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars, it is a really beautiful property. I have reviewed nearby restaurants in other reviews. All in all a great place which I would gladly visit again, but would not use the internet. You will enjoy this place.

“A few missteps but otherwise a great property”

My 75-year young mother and I stayed at this property in January-February 2012. We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom king suite on the 16th floor.

Pros: The staff is extremely accommodating. Issues are addressed quickly.

The onsite restaurant is reasonably priced and uses fresh, local ingredients.

SiSpa is nicely appointed and the spa attendants go above and beyond.

Cons: On Saturday nights, the Hilton next door has a permit to operate a dance club. The music is extremely loud and can be heard throughout the Marriott until well past midnight. Because of this, I would not recommend staying on a Saturday night.

The property has two pools, and both welcome children, so there is not an adults-only pool for those who wish to sunbathe in quiet.

Upon checkout, I had a discrepancy on my bill that took over a week to resolve. I left multiple unreturned voicemail messages for Tanya in accounts receivable. Ultimately, the hotel agreed to reverse the charge in question, but it took several hours of my post-vacation time and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Room Tip: The 2-bedroom, 2-bath suites are on the corners and offer 90-degree views.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Had a prolonged stay in January. Everything was great, especially the service. Condo suite was great. Food a bit pricey, but that should be expected. Overall a great experience.

Room Tip: Two BDR condos do not have a dining area. WiFi and valet service a bit costly, but the valet staff...

“Is WOW! Descriptive Enough?”

I attended a conference here. At first I was hesitant to not stay at my favorite Hilton brand hotel. From check-in to check-out this resort met every need. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious and well-appointed. There was also a full kitchen. The snacks and sodas for sale were much more reasonable than most mini-bars. Just top-notch food, service and meeting spaces. My only negative is the resort website indicates (and I was told when making the reservation) there is valet AND self parking. There is ONLY valet parking with a $20.00 per night charge for guests or $12.00 charge for visitors. Other than that, I highly recommend this resort.

“great place for a vacation”

We absolutely loved this resort. Great place for a couple or for a family. My husband and I rented a one bedroom condo from vrbo.com and got a great price. Then friends joined us so we got a 2 bedroom condo, again vrbo.com. You can get much lower prices renting directly from the owners, but be aware that the hotel/hotel front desk have an attitude towards you if you do so. They declare that if you have a problem, don't come running to them. We did have a problem with the TV in one of the condos, and Marriott front desk said, "tough!" The problem actually had to do with the resort channel network, and the owner, after much pleading with the resort finally got them to fix the problem. Also be aware that the resort would much rather you eat in their restaurant, so the condos only have a two burner cook top and NO oven. And the cookware is VERY limited. So only plan on small, limited cooking meals/snacks. Having said all this, we still LOVED this place. Beautiful views, first class resort with great heated pools! I will definitely go back. Also be aware that if you have a vehicle you pay $20 a day parking whether you valet park or self-park, so figure that into your budget.

Room Tip: The lower the room number, the further back from the beach, like 1900 is closest to the street.
