“Very nice, relaxing with friendly staff - good food + pools”

This is a nice resort hotel - one of the few such like I've been too in Spain and this felt like going to a Caribbean/equivalent resort with large grounds, large pool complex, buffet restaurant and organised activities.

Very well done - the buffet breakfast (and evening meal) were well stocked, some of the food wasn't great (majority was) but thats just the consequence of the buffet approach rather than anything else. We had wine in the evening and that seemed to be well priced.

The pool complex is large enough and well maintained with lifeguard (very child friendly when we were there), small waterslides, good changing facilities and is b ig enough to actually swim in with some depth to the pool. didn't use them but hotel offers kayaking, volleyball, petanque etc as well as activitikes to break the ice. And if you want a beach, well thats a short wealk and boat ride away with free boat tickets to the beaches on the spit - a lovely, wild natural beach.

Staff were very firendly - the woman on check-in was great and enjoyed the fact that we spoke a bit of spanish - going at a helpful pace but she also spoke english. I do think it does speak volumes for a hotel, the attitude of the staff.

'Town' is a short walk away - it being a fishing/resort town with a lot of chiringuitos - we ate in one which was ok but not great which probably makes me dismiss the village/town more than I should. Rooms were ok without being spectacular - but probably better on the whole than a lot of other spanish hotels - good beds.

“Cannot give enough praise!”

This was a superb hotel for us as a couple where families were also staying with smaller children under 5. There are very few english guests - we were 1 of 5 so far this year (September), but don't let that put you off. We can speak some Spanish but all of the staff are friendly and some speak English. The facilities are fabulous, large indoor pool and jacuzzi, heated indoor pool and gym. More than enough sunbathing space on loungers, grounds to walk through, no probs from mosquitos either. Food immensely varied and fresh, cooked to order on hotplate. Free ferry to quiet sandy beach. Stunning views. Local supermarket and cafes, quiet fishing village. A true break. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had a lateral sea view which is well worth it, quiet and stunning view. Beds are hard is the only...

“Absolutely fantastic for families”

This is a great hotel in a wonderful area of Spain. When we visited (with boys aged 7 and 5) there were mostly friendly Spanish tourists there. The hotel is spacious and new and right on the seafront. There is a handy free boat out to the strip of gorgeous sandy beach ("La Flecha") every 30 mins. There is a buffet breakfast and dinner both of which are very good value compared to eating out and the food choice and freshness is excellent. Kids ate free too. There are two outdoor pools, a toddler pool a jacuzzi plus a warmer and quieter indoor pool. There are activities for kids including volleyball, table tennis, and a supervised kids club too. You can walk out of the gate to a supermarket (reasonable prices) or some small shops and 2 minutes away is the lovely little fishing village of El Rompido which has a great kids playground, bouncy castle, heladeria and lots of cheap and delicious tapas places. We also saw some great flamenco music in the town square one evening. There is plenty to do in the area too, with Huelva, Punta Umbria and Seville within easy driving reach. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room with balcony

“Decent hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

This is a 4star hotel of a traditional spanish enviornment. The whole place is well maintained. Large gardens and swimming pool area which are excellent. Pleasant interior. The bedrooms are basic. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to help. This seems to be an area with fewer international visitors and more Spanish which is rather nice. The restored village of El Rompido is a few minutes walk away and it has good restaurants and Tapas bars. The area was wonderfully quiet but that maybedifferent during the season.

“Ecellent hotel and village.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2011

We have just spent a few day's in this hotel and found it excellent. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, and they up-graded our room at no extra cost when we asked for a sea-view. The hotel has an in-door and out-door swimming pool, and all the other facilities you would expect. The buffet breakfast has everything you could possibly want including bacon and several types of egg's, and they also have someone cooking pancakes and omlettes if required. Because there is no beach at the hotel, there is a ferry which takes you over the estuary to a lovely sandy beach, this is free of charge and you get your tickets from the hotel reception, the ferry does a return trip about six times per day, last return around 19:00.
We never ate in the hotel dining room because we don't really like buffet food, "breakfast excepted", but It is only a five minute walk into the village of El Rompido, where there are several sea-food restaurants and tapas bars, although a little knowledge of Spanish would be useful, but you can get by without it with some pointing and gestures. We also found an Argentinian steak-house "El Rebenque" about a two minute drive from the hotel, we had a fabulous meal and the staff were extremely friendly and explained evrything on the menu to us "in English".
There seemed to be a lot of Spanish people in the village in the evening who were staying at the hotel, possibly they use the hotel for week-end breaks, as we found everything very relaxing, just the type of place to get away from it all. The only slightly negative point is there are quite a lot of children around, the Spanish, unlike the brit's seem to actually like to have children everywhere, but unlike some British children they are very well behaved!
We will certainly return to this hotel again, highly recomended.
