He was so bored he drove me nuts! not even a locel bar to go to. went on a train to the next village but it was like a ghost town. would highly recomend it though to couples who just wont to realz.

“Natural paradise”

Just back from Marismas Club, If you want night clubs this is not the place to be, however if you love nature and the typical Spanish countryside you will not be disappointed. Walks aplenty , wonderful wildlife, empty silver sand beaches, tapas bars, quaint beach eateries and much more.
Hire a car and explore the area.

Aparthotel Marismas rooms are very clean, spacious and well laid out. The food was excellent, if you want British grub you can buy it at the local supermarket and cook it in you apartment! Staff were always pleasant and efficient (please remember that they are Spanish, so don't expect them to be fluent in English).
We will certainly be back.

“Bit disapointing, have to end up with the right people to make this a good holiday ie. ENGLISH”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2010

Although it was a while back that we went I decided to write a review as we've jst booked another holiday and it reminded me of this place. Firstly we booked with First Choice who actually advertised this to us as in Portugal - Its not! We flew into Faro airport which is in Portugal and then were driven out of it as our two and a half transfer began, Portugal looked great to me and my boyfriend (a teenage couple) it had a lovely beach, nice large hotel, shops bars and resturants. When we finally arrived at Marismas Club it was in the middle of no where, no beach for miles! We checked in the staff were helpful and friendly and we found a meal waiting for us in our room as we didn't arrive till early hours of the morning! The next day we spent the day looking round, the pool side is nice although I am used to places a bit more secluded as I've travelled to places such as Dubai, The Seychelles, The Maldives.. I was being abit picky! For kids eg. 4-13 this place would be great as all day long there are staff asking you to join in Volley Ball, Water Polo and loads of other games, they play loud dance music in the top pool and seems to be where all the action is, down the other end of the pool is a lot calmer and where we found ourselves sitting! The food was ok not amazing but theres a wide selection, the entertainment at night is the same thing over and over, once again great for kids but once they've all gone to bed things get so boring! There was a real issue with the staff and the English by the pool side, this hotel is mainly made up of french and german guests we only met three english couples and families the whole time we were there, the English were never asked if they'd like to use the facilities and no body spoke to us in English! Luckily by the last four days of our holiday we'd met some people who were English that knew more about El rompido then us, we went down to the fishing village (on the free train which was an experience) which is hardly ever open! There is an english bar there that is full of elderly people who have retired to the village, it was nice but very quiet! We did book an excursion which got cancelled! So we had nothing to look forward to, one day we did actually manage to get a bus to the beach but only because we were with the couple that had already done this before I don't think we would have done it by ourselves as no one could understand us! Around the last couple of nights we had a meal over at the 5* hotel which in no way was a 5*, the people that were staying there were so above their selves that it was uncomfortable to go in wearing our all inclusive 4* armbands but atleast the food was slightly better then ours, not much different tho! We also paid a visit to the Spa in the 5* hotel just to break up our day slightly which was nice, possibly one of the only things to do there although once you've been and seen it thats it really. All in all we had an ok holiday but only because we met people that actualy understood and were nice to us the whole time before that we felt lonely and bord, if you have children you may have a completely different opinion but definately not for young couples or people with teenagers in the family!

“booking to go back next year”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2010

just got back from this hotel after being on hols there for ten days...travelled alone with my 3 children aged 2 5 and 13...was a bit wary as this was my first "package hol" alone as usually go to visit relatives that live in dubai...however I couldnt fault it...felt safe throughout my stay..the little ones loved the pool the mini disco..and my 13 year old found a friend and never moaned once...booked the hotel because of its location so expected the majority of the guests to be spanish or french...if you are wanting a holiday thats home from home then dont book, but once the staff team realised i was alone with kiddies they went out of there way to make sure i was ok..the kids made friends with the spanish and french and loved it and so did i,,,the rooms are clean and comfortable..the surroundings are lovely and my two year old is asking to go back...food is fine lots of snacks available through day although as ever gets tedious so we went into el rompido to the orange grove and had some british comfort food....this holiday is not everyones cup of tea....but its somewhere i would go back to.

“PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS”

It has been a while since we returned from our holiday but as look to book for next year I couldn't help but think of people wasting their money on a holiday like this. I saw negative reviews before I booked but also some positives and after our holiday I have a good idea who wrote the positive ones! (Our first choice rep was stuck to his computer on the few occasions we saw him).
I am not going to go into details but this place is great......if you are French. There is no entertainment for the English and my son cried because he wanted to go home. Quite frankly I was disgusted that first choice sold us this holiday and will never be booking with them again. There wasn't a rep to take us to our hotel, our coach driver looked like he wanted to kill us for getting on his coach and no rep at the 'hotel' when we finally got there (2 & 1/2 hours and whiplash later).
I have never written a review before but I couldn't let this one go.
Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
