“Bit disapointing, have to end up with the right people to make this a good holiday ie. ENGLISH”
Although it was a while back that we went I decided to write a review as we've jst booked another holiday and it reminded me of this place. Firstly we booked with First Choice who actually advertised this to us as in Portugal - Its not! We flew into Faro airport which is in Portugal and then were driven out of it as our two and a half transfer began, Portugal looked great to me and my boyfriend (a teenage couple) it had a lovely beach, nice large hotel, shops bars and resturants. When we finally arrived at Marismas Club it was in the middle of no where, no beach for miles! We checked in the staff were helpful and friendly and we found a meal waiting for us in our room as we didn't arrive till early hours of the morning! The next day we spent the day looking round, the pool side is nice although I am used to places a bit more secluded as I've travelled to places such as Dubai, The Seychelles, The Maldives.. I was being abit picky! For kids eg. 4-13 this place would be great as all day long there are staff asking you to join in Volley Ball, Water Polo and loads of other games, they play loud dance music in the top pool and seems to be where all the action is, down the other end of the pool is a lot calmer and where we found ourselves sitting! The food was ok not amazing but theres a wide selection, the entertainment at night is the same thing over and over, once again great for kids but once they've all gone to bed things get so boring! There was a real issue with the staff and the English by the pool side, this hotel is mainly made up of french and german guests we only met three english couples and families the whole time we were there, the English were never asked if they'd like to use the facilities and no body spoke to us in English! Luckily by the last four days of our holiday we'd met some people who were English that knew more about El rompido then us, we went down to the fishing village (on the free train which was an experience) which is hardly ever open! There is an english bar there that is full of elderly people who have retired to the village, it was nice but very quiet! We did book an excursion which got cancelled! So we had nothing to look forward to, one day we did actually manage to get a bus to the beach but only because we were with the couple that had already done this before I don't think we would have done it by ourselves as no one could understand us! Around the last couple of nights we had a meal over at the 5* hotel which in no way was a 5*, the people that were staying there were so above their selves that it was uncomfortable to go in wearing our all inclusive 4* armbands but atleast the food was slightly better then ours, not much different tho! We also paid a visit to the Spa in the 5* hotel just to break up our day slightly which was nice, possibly one of the only things to do there although once you've been and seen it thats it really. All in all we had an ok holiday but only because we met people that actualy understood and were nice to us the whole time before that we felt lonely and bord, if you have children you may have a completely different opinion but definately not for young couples or people with teenagers in the family!
