“stunning hotel with spectacular views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2009

well i was amazed, a hotel that has it all, stunning rooms decorated with stunning old toscn arches and spanish antiques, wonderful food that was some of the best i have ever tasted in spain and incredibly polite staff. I would recommend anybody here and my children were made so welcome. I felt so relaxed and like i was in heaven. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday, oh and the local wine is to die for

“The reality of the hotel did not live up the advertising photos and the general service was non-existent.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

My husband and I were looking forward to a restful couple of days in the hills behind Denia and I was very taken with the advertising photos. The reality was very different. When we arrived, the man at Reception could not have been more unfriendly. He shoved the room key at us and when we looked uncertain about where to go, he waved us in the general direction of the room and turned away. There was no assistance offered to transport our cases over to the separate building which houses the "junior suites".
The room was VERY disappointing. It was nothing like the photo - very dark and uninviting. The dingy bathroom was very small - it had a bath with a shower over it but no shower curtain so the water covered the floor and the toilet, which was beside the bath. No extras were provided, for example tea/coffee making facilities. There were two saving graces - a comfy bed and the spectacular view.
We ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The dinner was pretty good and the waitress was charming - providing the only service we received during our stay. The choice at breakfast was extensive but really summed up the hotel - there was no service AT ALL. We had to serve ourselves with absolutely everything, even tea and coffee.
We were hoping to be spoilt for a couple of days but I am sorry to say that it did not turn out that way. Maybe I am out of touch but for 135 euros a night, I expected better.

“So near yet so far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2008

We wanted to be close to the tourist areas but for the first couple of days some isolation and quiet was needed. The hotel is good to find at the top of the valley with spectacular views towards Denia and the coast. Reception was warm and welcoming and even arranged for some lunch, on the Sunday, even though we were after closing time. In March we couldn’t find anywhere open in the village so it is as well that the food in the hotel was excellent. We had one of the suites and the views were outstanding, the weather was fine but cold and the heating was more than adequate. It is a perfect venue if you want a walking holiday or simply to relax. 30 mins sees you at the coast. We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and the off season price was superb.

  • Liked — Location, service and price
  • Disliked — Too cold to swim in the pool.

“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful spot”

I stayed here in April 2006, and I'd like to endorse wbbracknell's comments below.

The hotel is up in the mountains in the village of Benimaurell, well away from the tourist crowds. The views are spectacular, the rooms spacious and spotless and the food superb. Do try to get one of the junior suites, which are decent sized villas in their own right with bedroom downstairs and sitting room and balcony upstairs.

The hotel was built in about 2000 to very high standards.

Come here for a really relaxing holiday in beautiful and relaxing surroundings. The walking/hiking in the area is superb and many walks start at the hotel gates. The hotel can give you the name of the company with whom I spent a week exploring the area.

“It's a little gem”

Book a junior suite, this will give you a bedroom, bathroom with views, sitting room and balcony.
The junior suites are built in a separate building to the main hotel and sit on the edge of the mountain looking out over 20 miles of 'vista'.
The restaurant is good, the staff friendly, the rooms are spotless and there is a nice outdoor pool.
If you want a complete chill out and/or fancy some serious walking- I can't think of a better place to go.
