We stayed at hotel Gametxo for 3 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The only issue we had is that we completely underestimated the time to drive to the hotel (you can only come by car). Given the hotel is located in the middle of the mountains and not even in the town mentioned (this is 'turismo rural'), it was very difficult to find and we had to call the hotel several times and stop to ask people. But when we arrived, we discovered that the hotel offered an outstanding view on the sea surrounded by mountains. Staff was very nice and helpful as well and there is a nice lounge to stay to read or to browse internet with the available computer. Our bedroom had been refurbished recently and was decorated with good taste. Breakfast was not that good but for 7.5€, it can be a smart start of the day. I would not recommand this hotel for a pied-a-terre from which you can easily visit the area (there is at least 30 minutes drive to the next 'big' road). If you are ready to compromise on this, you will definitely like it a lot.

Take a decent map to find this place but when you do it's well worth it. Tremendous peaceful spot high up on a hill with fantastic views. Very nice clean and tidy rooms and lovely helpful staff.

Food arrangement are a bit strange. Although a very nice breakfast is provided any other food is knocked up on an "as required" basis (and ours was defrosted and "cooked" by the receptionist) for consumption either in the grounds or in your room. Very basic menu. There are other restaurants in the area but you need to drive out and none open, as is the case in Spain, until well into the evening. There is also no bar, beer comes from cans via a drinks machine!

Not the cheapest of stops but I'd certainly go back. If it had a bar and restaurant it would have scored a 5.

At first we were skeptical of the hotel because getting there was an adventure in and of itself. Once you find the hotel you are just simply stunned. Who would have guessed that such a beautiful hotel can be located on mountain away from civilization. The hotel is VERY modern. It has all sorts of features that you wouldn't expect. They have a full breakfast area, motion sensors in the halls so that the lights turn on for you when you walk in front of them, showers with three different sets of jets for massage, and even wired internet.

The owner of the hotel is there everyday. He was a great help when you needed to find out how to get around the area. I speak fluent spanish so we were able to speak to all the hotel staff. I do not know if they spoke english but they did mention that they don't get too many americans at the hotel. Even if that is the case, I'm sure they will still be very friendly.

If you go during the summer, the hotel is located next to two beaches. The view is beautiful. I didnt bother touching the water because i went in April, but the owner told me the beaches are very popular when the water warms up.

This hotel is very affordable and well worth your consideration.
