We stayed at Can Planells last July and had a fantastic time. The length of time it's take to write this review has nothing to do with our experience and everything to do with my organisation skills!! Joan is a fantastic host, a really friendly guy who was born and brought up on the farm which he turned into a charming, unpretentious hotel about a decade ago. He makes yearly improvements to the house and grounds and all in a way which is sympathetic to its history as a farm yet ensuring that his guests get the pampering and luxury they want - that's a huge part of its charm.
The hotel has no restaurant which I admit we hadn't realised, we thought it would have a snack bar, but after the initial disappointment we realised this was actually a bonus. It means the hotel is so quiet and peaceful that if you do decide not to venture out for the day you may be the only people there, depending on the time of year and of the week (we arrived on a Tuesday and by the Friday it was busier).
The rooms are simple,'rustic' Ibizan style, very comfortable and clean with a mini bar. They aren't top end glamerous but then that's not what ths place is about. Ours was around the back of the hotel and so had no stunning view but was very private and peaceful with a small terrace and a good sized bathroom. There is a gorgeous large pool and the honesty bar and breakfast area is genuinely the prettiest replace I've ever eaten, I couldn't stop taking pictures of it though none do it any justice!
There are dozens of fabulous places to stay in Ibiza but I know well be back here. The hotel and Joan were so lovely we kind of felt we'd be being unfaithful if we ever stayed anywhere else - silly but true!
