“FANTASTIC FAMILY HOLIDAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We had our 2nd holiday at the Balansat in October and have booked to go back in August so they must be doing something right!!!! we are not easily pleased. This hotel is fantastic for the kids there's a splash pool with slides etc which the kids love and its not too deep so your not feeling edgy theres also a childrens play area with swings and a slide. Its literally a 30 second walk to the lovely cove beach where you can hire pedaloes take a trip on the glass bottom boat or hire a speed boat. The hotel has definatley made improvements to the dining area and the food was fantastic the second time. On our first visit to the Balansat we booked self catering but soon upgraded to All INCLUSIVE at 20 euros for adults and 10 euros for the kids per day I would highly recommend it. We stayed in room 207 which overlooked the pool and above reception, the room was very spacious and clean we really couldn't complain. The staff at this hotel work so hard from early morning until late at night Enrique is a diamond and will go out of his way to help you always smiling Hola Enrique!, The two english guys working in the bar were so friendly and very hard working and Mo well my kids fell in love with her, always something going on for them to do.The entertainment day and night is totally focused on the kids but if there happy then the parents are happy. I wanted to go into Ibiza town on the bus but the kids just didn't want to leave the hotel they made so many friends but Im hoping to get there on my third visit as the bus stops just up the road. There are a couple of shops one attached to the Balansat and a couple just a short stroll away. They sell baby food and nappies so you don't need to overload your case with nappies like I did if travelling with infants. If you are booking this with on the beach or travel republic don't book transfers like we did the first time. We paid £250.00 for transfers. This time we got a taxi from the airport 24 euros and took about 20 minutes. There isn't alot to do in Puerto san Miguel its a very quiet resort but thats why we like it. You can have a walk up to the caves not fantastic but the kids loved it, we went for a walk up the path at the side of the beach got so far (not advisable with a pushchair) then had to turn back but the views were stunning. Theres a sports bar just up the road which shows all the football matches and pool tables etc. There is a car hire place which also does money exchange and a doctors surgery thank god we didn't need it but its good to know its so close if we did. we met many people who have stayed at this hotel more than once so it cant be as bad as some reviews suggest. To sum it up if you want a holiday that you know your kids are safe and entertained a beachfront location and not going to be spending a small fortune with stunning views then this is definatley the place. The Harris Family cant wait to go back in August.

We were a party of 2. Just myself and my 6 year old son. The location of the hotel was great, very close to the beach and easy access to it. You can hire pedalos etc on the beach at a reasonable price and as it is a cove the sea is really safe. My son made friends with a couple of chums and spent lovely afternoon on the boat jetty catching fish. Puerto de San Miguel itself is pretty quiet and does not have much to offer, a few shops, supermarket, couple of cafes etc. You can get out and in using public transport but not overly frequent service so check timetable to ensure you can get back.
We were in the block on bar side behind the swimming pool and it was lovely and quiet (no Casey's bar noise). In terms of up keep there were quite a few part parts within the complex that I would describe a crumbling, one particular step was positively dangerous BUT I kept reminding myself that we paid very little for the accommodation with all inclusive. I was on a tight budget and it was very good value.

Room was great - really spacious, a twin bed room plus a living/eating area with balcony.

Quality of the food was in keeping for the low price. Average-good at times and edible at others. Don't go it you want quality food with lots of choice. It's not all pizza and chips but only salad options at times were only iceberg lettuce, green pepper and tomato.

The eating area, bar, entertainment is all in the one place - all inside although they open the glass doors when hot. So would get quite cramped in high season. OK entertain, but to be honest wasn't expecting much so it was a bonus.

Mostly British at this resort.

The pool area is an absolute dream for kids (younger) and you can keep your eye on them - very safe.

Staff pleasant but had no reason to 'test' them.

I've rated this as 4 but that is purely based on price. I think it worked out at £50 for 2 all inclusive.

To sum up - great value but far from luxurious. If you afford it, hire a car or go out on public transport to see the island.

2nd time at the balansat this year great family hotel very safe for the children great beach. food is geting better. it could be perfect if he would spend a bit more money ie kids club mo does a fantastic job with the very small budget she has. all staff are very friendly and work very hard apart from 1 person the bar man in reception is very very rude and lets the hotel down. once again request a room away from caseys irish bar its very noisy when its open.
IF YOU WANT A SAFE FRIENDLY PLACE FOR THE KIDS TO PLAY AND MAKE FRIENDS THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO

Room Tip: request a room away from caseys irish bar

“Good value for money”

Stayed at the Balansat apartments from 9/10/2011 to 16/10/2011. We were self catering, so cannot comment on the food. The apartment was spacious for two people, clean (although the shower hose was disintegrating - it still worked fine, though), and reasonably well equipped. You wouldn't want to cook a proper meal here - just a two ring hob in the kitchen - but it was fine for doing poached or boiled eggs for breakfast, toast, coffee and tea. Cleaned on a daily basis, with towels being regularly changed.
The evening entertainment was very much focussed on children, which was fine - just not for us! We had a car for the week, so went exploring to find quiet beaches, good restaurants, bars etc. The Irish bar was closed for most of the time (the official end of season seemed to be the weekend that we arrived, which was ideal for us!), so we didn't have any cause to complain about excessive noise, although you can imagine it would be noisy during the season.
Visited the local cave, which was interesting, but didn't represent great value for money at 9 euros each.
We had a great week, great weather, no complaints. You get what you pay for, and the Balansat Apartments represented good value for money for us (paid £136 for the week through Travel Republic).

“poor very dissapointed, food shocking!”

we have just come back from this last minute holiday(oct 15th -22 nd).we thought this was a 3 star coplex how wrong were we 1-2 star more like! the food being the worst thing we have ever had on an all inclusive,we were going to change hotel but couldnt afford it,there were no discriptions for the food, so it was an eat and guess game! i mainly ate bread and chips, ive never seen battered brochilli or cauliflower before! salad and fruit left uncovered for hours on end. i could go on about the food but i will bore you, shocking is a good description, the apartments were basic but relativley clean. the public areas and toilets were sort of clean hand dryers rusty and didn't work ,we were very surprised by all this as the reviews were really good or else we wouldn't have booked on. a plus note the staff were very freindly considering how obviously over worked they all were.we did our best to just get on with our holiday and enjoy it the best as we could, but we shall not be revisiting!
