“Luxury Escape to Ibiza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

We wanted a short escape without the children, but we booked last minute in September and lots of the placeswith detailed websites and lots of info were already booked. We based our choice purely on the reivews here and we weren't disappointed. Don't let the website fool you! Villa Ca'n Maries is absolutely STUNNING.

About 40 minutes by taxi from the airport, it's in the North of the island, and the place itself is perfect. A bar by the pool, excellent wine, carefully tended gardens and only a handful of rooms with total privacy and views of the sea. You can walk down to a small cluster of touristy shops and bars at the beach about ten minutes walk, but we rented a motorbike and explored the island. The owners were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble - they arranged our rental car, booked our taxi, booked restaurants and waited on us hand and foot.
It was just so elegant, and pretty, and romantic. The pool terrace looks out over the rolling hills to the sea, it was divine sipping cava and chatting to the other guests. Mostly couples - all who seemed really chilled out and friendly.

The hotel is not cheap, but then again, we don't often get the chance to holiday without the kids, so it was worth every penny. For honeymoon style break or Ibiza in style I would definitely recommend the Villa C'an Maries. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All the rooms have sea views, and were cleaned every day. Each room is named after a writer/artist...

“Gorgeous setting in a lovely part of the island.”

First tip - your sat nav may send you a little astray but just keep a look out for the signs - its only about 50 meters off!:)
Next tip, let Fanny, wife of the husband and wife team know what time you're arriving , apparently its in the small print in the booking form but we didn't see that and she was annoyed.
Next tip: this is NOT a bed and breakfat as you may understand that term. The breakfast is extra, it is costly and and it is poor. Go to the local supermarket and stock up on fruit - in fact , go to a more remote supermarket and stock up on fruit half the price of the local super market.
Next tip: hire a car for your whole holiday or you will be stuck - unless you want to be stuck and go nowhere, and it's a nice, but very pricely place to be stuck.
Next tip: Know that all wine and soft drinks are €6 each - this price is not advertised anywhere and came as a surprise to us. You will be thirsty and tempted when they come around to the pool area offering the relief of an iced fanta lemon;)
Next tip: Do have steak cooked by Fernando who is really lovely and helpful and friendly and does a very good steak - yum.
Next tip: Don't tell the owner too much about your business or you will find that the other guests know who you are and what you do for a living - but only if he is impressed himself......
Next tip: There may be plumbing issues in your room, there will be a foul smell wafting every now and then and the shower by the pool will not be working. You will hear a variety of excuses for this. The pool has a layer of grease from unshowered bodies getting into it and my goggles and rings were coated in this stuff and had to be scrubbed, disgusting, and not what one wold expect at these prices.
Next tip: There is a safe in the Picasso room, not in the Monet room, and I don't know about the others.
Next tip: The air conditioning has no night setting and is too noisy to sleep with so get used to the oppressive night time heat if you are from UK and Ireland. You will be told that that noise is normal and that you shouldnt have it on through the night anyway, but in fact, they just have the noisy (perhaps cheaper?) kind of units.
Next tip: There is NO kitchennette as advertised. There are rather 'chatty' fridges, a counter, no kettle, no hob , no cups, 2 glasses. There is not a full bathroom in every room, some have shower only, and one of them has open plan bedroom and bathroom which may not be to everyones taste - if you are one of them , maje sure you're not given this room. The showers are lovely and have several jets, although you can only have two on at a time.
Next tip: if you are considering paying the whopping amount for a suite for two people, don't . I" have seen one of them , and while it's lovely, esp the bathroom, it is certainly not worth what they are asking.
Next tip: Do try a glass of the rioja that they get without label due to overproduction - while the mark up must be considerable it is certainly worth having at least one glass because it is just lovely.

Your room will be cleaned every day, the cleaning staff are just lovely. Fernando as I mentioned is a treasure, and Pepe's daughter Janet is charming and helpful - and multi lingual.

So it is a lovely place, nicely laid out, could do with a lick of paint and having a few things fixed and added.

Restaurants: A nearby one called La Luna, stunning setting, goegeous food and great service. Can pau, again beautiful, overpriced but worth a once off experience. Art cafe, about 17k drive south west on San Antoni road - no view, on a cross roadsm but the best food at the best price with the best service we encountered during our two weeks - we went there 5 times and were thrilled each time - do it!

Beaches - there are so many: Go to cala st vicent, great waves, super chill out restaurant at right side end of beach with gorgeous food.
Go to cala compte for a sunset meal and sunset ashram - but not if you don't tolerate loudish music too well - there is a quieter alternative nearby though with just as lovely views.
Go to Fortamentara, hire a moped and be amazed by the postcard perfect water - it really is a must see.

“We were so lucky to find such a perfect place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Pepe and Fanny and their small team are the icing on the cake. The whole place was just wonderful -styled in very good taste and very welcoming . Our room was beautifully clean and very well maintained. We walked out to a perfectly maintained pool and pool area with sturdy comfortable sunbeds and shade if we needed it. The atmosphere was very relaxed whilst still maintaining a very high level of professionalism. Juan was a master of the bbq - the evening food was good simple fare - well presented and with a good choice of wines. Breakfast was my personal favourite - all meals are taken outside with shade if you need it. The coffee was especially good. We had a car for 3 out of the 8 days we stayed - which was enough for us to see the other beaches on Ibiza and have a few nights out to dinner. Walking to the main beach, Pas de Silla and Benirass was good exercise and we also took a taxi boat from the San Miguel main beach round to Benirass.
Villa Ca'n Maries is definitely in the best part of the island. I would and will go back - thinking of taking my mother but may go with a group of girlfriends - would be great for both.

“We'll definitely return (as soon as we can!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

One of the most wonderful boutique hotels we have ever visited. We arrived home today and felt compelled to spread the word.
Pepe, Fanny and their family welcome you as friends. Food and wine are excellent, beautiful pool and only 15 minutes away from the nearest beach, San Miguel. Walk for another 10 minutes (or take the water taxi) and you'll arrive at a more beautiful, secluded beach - you can make the choice.
For anyone who has kept away from Ibiza due to the clubbing scene (including me until now), don't hesitate - it's a most wonderful island made better by Ca'n Maries.
I'm busy planning a girls' weekend as well as a family weekend - Ca'n Maries will be perfect for both. Enjoy..I know you will, Sally

“Perfect Location and First Class Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

Villa Ca'n Maries is a bespoke rural hotel with 14 bedrooms I believe; It is located on the North side of the Island (in my opinion the best and exclusive part of the Island) It is set in beautiful surroundings up in the hills of San Miguel with views overlooking San Miguel Port. The gardens of the hotel are serene; eating outside on the terrace is an experience to marvel at. The food cooked at the hotel is excellent with all fresh produce of the day.
The rooms are first class and spacious with full size bathrooms; the attention to detail is evident throughout,
Most importantly you will not find anywhere a friendlier and helpful team of staff, they genuinely want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and nothing is too much trouble.
You can tell the staff follows the lead of the Hotel owner Pepe, who is always on hand to ensure your stay is special in every detail. You really will enjoy a stay at this little gem of a find in Ibiza.
