“Friendly and small country hotel”

This small and personal hotel is placed on a perfect location to discover the area around Antequera. The room was perfectly clean. The breakfast was of continental type and the food in restaurant at the evenings were fine. The owners and the staff were friendly. The only con was that I only had 15C in the room my first night in November. When I told the staff in the evening on arrival they kindly started the central heating for my room. However, it was shut off at around midnight so at four in the morning it was cold again. The next day I got both blankets and a small, very noisy, electric heater in my room which made it all better. If I had a warm (20C) room without the fan noise during my stay I had rated this hotel as excellent, but now it gets the rating very good. By the way, don't miss the Las Minas riding center 2,3 km from the hotel!

“Fantastic food - well looked after”

We stayed here using a 'groupon', we were welcomed by the owner Filippo and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the food, prepared by his wife Elena was superb. We were not restricted on choosing from the menu and all the food was freshly prepared and delicious.
The room was cold when we arrived but Filippo turned on the heating and it was soon warm.
The bedrooms and public rooms were nicely decorated. The hotel is next to the GR7 route of Washington Irving - great for walking. It is also worth visiting the prehistoric burial mounds at Antequera and El Torcal - amazing limestone rock formations.
If we have one gripe it is that the beds were rather hard as were the pillows - we will remedy that by taking our own pillows next time.
This hotel was a find and we shall return.

We ate at La Paloma the first night that we were in the area and it was so good that we went back twice more! The food was absolutely excellent and great value for money. Excellent choices and relaxed service. Highly recommended!

“Value for money - nothing less, nothing more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Our plan was to visit the pueblos blancos in Andalucia. The hotel is easy to find. There is a parking place aside the building. Other than previous reviewers, we found the welcoming rather poor. As a matter of fact when we entered our room for a second we thought we had checked into the wrong hotel. Everywhere there were leftovers/reminders from the previous hotel situated in the same building , named "los tres pollos". However, we were in the right place. The room is good, clean and has every basic need. We stayed in room 1, a double room with private bathroom (shower). There was a TV but it didn't work, we couldn't watch anything as the satellite connection did not work properly. There is a large swimming pool, but we didn't use it. In the evening we ate at the hotel restaurant. We weren't really trilled by the evening dinner. I ate ravioli with meat and tomato sauce, my partner ate gnocchi. Both dishes were served in the same sauce. It is not our vision of quality food. The dessert however was nice. The chocolate soufflé was really good, but the nougat parfait seemed to be still frozen - way too hard to eat. The second evening we couldn't eat at the restaurant because it was closed (maybe it is closed every monday i'm not sure). It wasn't easy to find another restaurant. We bought our own food in a supermarket which after we asked the hotel personnel, we could eat at the hotel terrace. That was friendly. Breakfast was good with a variety of fruit, marmelade, cheese, orange juice, bread. We have found it very disturbing that the cat of the owners was jumping on our chairs and even sitting on the table in the morning when we were having breakfast. No-one of the hotel management reacted to do something about that, so we decided to leave breakfast for what it was.
Reviewing our whole experience, we must admit that for the price we payed, we got value for money.
