went here on a Groupon voucher for a 2 course meal for two as it is really close to where I live. The place is lovely and very picturesque. when you enter the grounds there is a barrir, and a sign at the side saying "automatic barrier" so you just drive straight up to it and it opens. It isn't well signposted inside to the restaurant,b ut I managed to find the bar and was led to the Restaurant. We were the only people in there but it was laid out beautifully and they lit a fire for us. I ordered whitby haddock. It came out black, overcooked and VERY bland. I didn't eat it all and when the waitress asked if everything was ok I explained it had been overcooked and was bland. She apologised and said she would let the chef know. I thought as we had already pre paid, they would offer us a free coffee or dessert, but no...... I never saw the waitress again!!!!!
I walked out to my car and got in and drove to the barrier, it was snowing quite heavy by this time. I waited for the barrier to automatically open, but nothing! then I noticed a sign saying I needed to get an exit code to leave the grounds!!! so much for the automatic barrier. I had to drive back to the Hotel reception and get a code. I wouldn't bother going again, very disappointing.
