We stayed at the Hotel mid-week for 2 nights in the middle of September. A truly bizarre experience.
On arrival we were provided with the room key and, once we had dragged all of our luggage into the foyer of the hotel, were provided with the porter's trolley so that we could take ourselves and our luggage to the room. This is supposedly a 4* hotel?
We booked the Presidential Suite, on the basis that the map of room appeared to show a lounge and dining room downstairs with a spiral staircase leading to the bedroom upstairs. On checking in we discovered that the bedroom etc.. was downstairs and the spiral staircase led to a locked door which opened on to the roof top. No bedroom, not even a roof top garden or an observation deck, just a roof top. Did someone forget to build another storey? Truly bizarre.
After complaining, we were given a junior suite for half the price which was basically the same as the Presidential Suite minus the staircase to nowhere.
The hotel was like a ghost town, we rarely saw other guests (other than at breakfast) and the bar area was completely deserted throughout the evening. There were a number of older men with younger girls on their arms leaving the rooms throughout the early evening on the second day and an almost constant sound of stilettos up and down the corridor throughout the second night, but that was the only real human activity we heard or saw at the hotel.
The beds were very comfortable and the shower was quite an experience, which is obviously in deference to the clientele.
The staff spoke excellent english but were very young and inexperienced and very naive as to complain about guests in Italian within earshot of those guests (who incidently spoke Italian!). They were also very unprepared for dealing with a 3 year old guest. Having milk heated for a bottle of a night was very interesting, but at least it gave the barman something to do.
The Hotel does not have it's own restaurant, however, the Golf Club next door has a restaurant that offers, amongst other things, an antipasto buffet at 4 euro which is to die for. The food and ambience is excellent and the house wine is good value. Highly recommend it.
This hotel is for a certain clientele and families with children are not it.
