This is the most sumptuous, friendly and elegant place for a party. It's a Palladian villa with a huge garden with statuary, a lovely pool, a quiet location and a fantastic restaurant and enoteca (wine bar).
This family-run hotel hosted a marvellous anniversary party for us and thirty guests on a Sunday night. Our guests were made to feel very welcome, the food (we were helped to design a four course menu which was very reasonably priced) was divine - a very elegant fish menu. All the flowers, individual menus etc were included as a matter of course. The wine was fantastic, well priced and flowed very freely!
It's definitely a place for weddings/parties etc, though they were happy to cater for us on the times we were doing a recce.
The suites (although expensive) are awesome, decorated with putti and paintings. The other accomodation in what was a stable block is very nice.
The family could not have been more friendly. When a couple of our guests were delayed due to Ryanair flying them to Trieste rather than Treviso, the hotel waived their bill for the night, even though they could not have resold the room at such a late stage.
Portobuffole itself is a one-horse medieval town with a lovely restaurant and a friendly cafe (with a cat that seemed to live at the top of a vine!) and lively festivals. The town is around 40 minutes in a taxi from Treviso which costs anywhere between 50 and 70 euros in a taxi. From there, the train to the heart of venice takes half an hour and costs a couple of euros.
