“perfect wedding venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I have stayed here a few times, most recently July 2011, and also got married here July 2009. Sorry it's taken me so long to post! Dalmunzie is one of my favourite places in the world. It is perfectly peaceful in the amazing setting of glenshee. As we hired all the rooms for the wedding we got to view almost all the rooms and I loved them all - lots of individuality. I love the antique furniture. Some bathrooms could do with updating, but all fully clean and functional. We always stay in the MacIntosh tower room which is just amazing with wood panelled walls, windows to the mountains on all 3 sides in turrets and a huge bath.

The staff were amazing beyond description for the wedding. I felt just like a princess in my own castle all weekend (and I still do when I stay there)! I am very particular and like to organise things myself, and they allowed me to do that while at the same time giving advice sorting things out when necessary. Everything can be arranged entirely to your own choice. The food on the wedding day was amazing, my guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. After the wedding I was approached by a magazine for a feature which was nice - the photos were lovely.

We love coming back to the hotel for short breaks. Last time we walked a munro, tried to play golf and played with the board games. We were too busy relaxing to get around to the darts, victorian pool or tennis. Dinner is amazing (I think they should have a michelin star) and it is lovely to relax in the bar or lounge with drinks.

Thank you Dalmunzie!

“Brilliant Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

We got married here in November 2011, it couldn't have been more perfect - the sun even came out for us! The staff were attentive and most helpful and made everything run so smoothly. We had exclusive use of the place and everyone paid compliment to their rooms - ours was really gorgeous! The meal was amazing too - best fillet steak ever! Thank you all so much for such a wonderful day! And sorry it took so long to write something on here!!! We look forward to coming back!

“Character property with great service and excellent food.”

I stayed here earlier in the year whilst on a short tour with my son, we spent two nights at the hotel and had a great time. The service, from the friendly welcome when we arrived until checkout was exemplary, by which I mean it was professional but with just the right degree of familiarity. The bar and games room were great fun, and the intimate nature of the hotel encourages guests to mix with other parties, such a nice change from the isolated existance that some places encourage. The bar, as you would expect, offers an excellent selection of scotch and expert advice to go with it. The food was a very enjoyable surprise, breakfast and dinner were amongst the best I have experienced in a hotel restaurant in the UK.
One word of warning to anyone who might be planning a visit in a sports car with limited ground clearance - the driveway to the hotel is long and narrow with severe camber and a few potholes, any regular saloon car will be fine, but you folks with expensive Ferraris etc will need to be careful.
Overall great place - planning to go back for wedding anniversary.

Room Tip: The hotel offers a variety of rooms, and were able to show me some examples for a future visit. If y...

“Food is outstanding, charming place”

I approached this hotel with a degree of trepidation having read some of the previous reviews and in particular was little concerned about the tone of the management's response. First impressions were very good, being in a wonderful location, albeit a little isolated from the central belt. The entrance hall is very pleasant, although perhaps a little dated especially with regards to be lighting. However, there was a warm welcoming fireplace and plenty of cosy sofas. After registration, we were efficiently show to our room by a pleasant receptionist. The room itself was perfectly functional although again rather dated, with poor lighting. One niggle, was a lack of heating in the toilet which although the evening was not too cold, would be a problem in the depths of winter. At this point in our stay, I was considering that the hotel was rather average, and I probably would not return. All this changed, however, when we went down to dinner. The food is truly outstanding, and I speak from experience of almost all Scotland's Michelin starred restaurants. The night passed peacefully in a very comfortable bed, and in the morning the breakfast was equally good. I would certainly return. On balance the review several below this one sums it up well; It would require a large amount of money to bring this hotel up to completely modern standards and of course this would have a large impact on the tariff. Overall it is perfectly charming and their chef is their main asset. I would, however, advise the owner to tone down his responses to criticism, as these do tend to put people off, although I understand his passion.

“Fantastic Hotel, wonderful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We stayed at Dalmunzie for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As we’d not stayed far away the previous evening, we arrived at Dalmunzie very early in the afternoon with a view to going for a walk in the surrounding hills. We could not have had a warmer welcome from Brianna (one of the owners); even though our room wasn’t ready we were invited to leave our luggage, and Brianna rang an information line for us to make sure that we wouldn’t be walking near any stalking parties that were out and recommended how best to tackle the hill we wanted to reach the top of.
Dinner and breakfast were both excellent; the food was very well prepared. The service we got from all the staff was excellently judged: friendly without being familiar and attentive without being overly fussy.
The dinner, bed and breakfast package was exceedingly good value given the quality of the food. We had a delightful stay and would certainly go again.
