We have just arrived home from the Olde Moat House today. Easy to find even on a dark night. Welcomed in by Robert and then shown through to the guest lounge that contained a huge open fire, it was so lovely and warm. We stayed in the room with the four poster bed, it was very comfortable to sleep in. The duvet and pillows were all feather with crisp cotton sheets. Plenty of hangers/hanging space in the wardrobe. Tea & coffee making facilities (it wasn't instant coffee either), fresh milk in a mini fridge & bottled water. There is a radiator in the room, which is on a timer, but there is also an electric heater you can use if you need to, to take the chill out the room. Bathroom was a good size consisting of a victorian roll top bath with 2 showers, basin, bidet and toilet all delicately painted with flowers. Lots of towels and flannels, tissues, shampoo, conditioner, assorted bubble baths,2 bathrobes, even a scented candle & matches. The food was delicious and well cooked, you couldn't complain there wasn't enough food or choice because both were plentiful. When you eat you all sit round one large dinning table, there were 6 of us today and we had some lovely conversations, one couple originally from Spain and another couple from Slough, even the hosts joined in. The gardens to the property are well maintained, it looked great on Saturday just covered with the frost. There is also 2 sheep towards the back of the house who are really friendly. You settle your bill when leaving, we made the mistake of booking this through a 3rd party site for late bookings but didn't realise we had only been charged a deposit not the full amount. They do take cards at the property but prefer to take cash or cheques if possible. The hosts Dianna & Robert fully explained to us why and we can see there reasons. Forgot to say that you are given a key to the front door so you can come and go as you please. Delightful house and delightful hosts.
