It may not be the prettiest hotel from the outside but the welcome and service in this family owned Hotel is fabulous. Combine that with a superb position at the base of the slopes, an excellent spa area and a great choice of family rooms and suites, the Riml ticks all the boxes

First time we have stayed in Hochgurgl and chose the Riml on the recommendation of friends.

Travelled as a family with friends - We had an apartment Type "E" which was comfortable (apart from the beds!) spacious and very clean, more than adequate for myself, the wife and our two sons aged 14 & 11. The apartment had a lounge area with a small kitchenette, two bedrooms (1 x double bed and 1 x 2 single beds) plus a huge bathroom with bath and shower plus a seperate toilet. The large balcony overlooked the slopes and we really enjoyed the views.

The food was on the whole, excellent. Buffet breakfast and a 4/5 course meal in the evening which normally involved a salad bar / soup / warm starter / main / dessert - All very tasty and very well presented - the service was excellent. We normally returned to the hotel for lunch as well, good value for money, for the area.

I didnt see/use the spa, but my wife had several treatments and enjoyed them although felt they were very "Austrian"

The pool area was very clean and lovely, although the water was a tad chilly - great place to hang out and relax though.

Having the ski hire shop downstairs was very convenient (staff excellent and very helpful) and the boot room excellent. Bit of a hike up some metal stairs to the slopes, but an easy ski down to the lifts, and we never experienced any queues. Easy Ski back to the hotel.

All in all, a great holiday, made even better as we travelled with good friends. The Riml comes highly recommended, especially if you are travelling with non-skiers as well.

Excellent hotel. Exceptional food. Extremely well run. Polite helpful staff and gracious owners. We had a great skiing holiday. Boot room great but could have done with a second one at the same level as the Intersport ski hire - For when the legs are too tired at the end of the day! Hope to come back next season.

We have stayed in Obergurgl many times and this was our first time in Hochgurgl. The hotel is lovely with spacious and comfortable rooms and great bathrooms. The food was really good whilst we were there - although the service and so gaps before main courses was sometimes too long (30 mins!). Although the hotel is right on the piste it is a stomp from boot room to piste and does involve a steel staircase that is tiring at altitude. There are two boot rooms and both are small and cramped compared to the best boot room in the world at the Edelweiss & Gurgl in Obergurgl. There is a ski shop in the hotel but to get between boot room and ski shop is a walk of 3 flights of stairs - no joke with boots and skis.

Overall it was lovely and good value for money this year (we went with Crystal who seemed to have miss priced the week before Xmas). However if you are going with Crystal dont expect too much (anything) from the Reps as they are invisible and not very well informed. Also for the return coach trip we were told it would depart at 7.15am - however this was the time they told everyone - so they had to do all the Obergurgl hotels first - this meant it was 7.50 at the Riml which was a frustrating wait at that time in the morning - not so good as Inghams who do this so much better.

In bad weather its easier to ski in Obergurgl and in good weather relatively easy to get to Hochgurgl from Obergurgl - so for the same money I would choose Obergurgl - but for the price we paid it was fab at the Riml.
