We stayed here for my birthday and were pleasantly surprised with the tranquility of the place and wonderful rural views. The house was beautiful, the room was large and overlooked the pond and the piggery. The "private" bathroom was not ensuite as I envisaged but across the landing and contained an eclectic mix of half used toiletries, clearly those of the hosts. Everything from Superdrug aftershave to Crabtree & Evelyn Body Lotion. However the soap in the soap dish was a pitiful sliver of dried out something or other and the toilet paper appeared to be rationed - less than half a roll and no spare! No tissues in the bathroom either - thankfully we were not taken short!
We were told we could have breakfast at 8.30am - no room for negotiation here as Maggie had to sing in the choir the next morning so had to leave at 9.15am. We were a bit disappointed at the early start on a Sunday morning but duly presented ourselves in the dining room at the appointed hour. The table seats 8 and we joined four from Belgium who were visiting to see Stonehenge and a couple of ladies from Cornwall. We waited half an hour for Maggie to take our breakfast order (we could have come down at 9am!) which arrived piping hot and delicious. Amazingly we were then able to witness Maggie instructing the Belgians on English table manners .... once a teacher always a teacher eh Maggie ??!!
Maggie was by this time somewhat flustered and hurried off to church leaving her guests to lock up and put the front door key through the letterbox !!!
