We just came back from staying at The Venus apartment and my husband and myself loved it there. Yes it is old but it is loved by Charlie the owner who is the most sweetest man ever. Nothing is too much trouble for him.
The room were given was perfect for us. The bathroom had been upgraded even though the water pressure was a bit low that would have been our only gripe. They are to a good standard and very clean. The kitchen area inclused a undercounter fridge with small ice box, 2 ring burner, small electric oven, small kettle, microwave oven and a toasted sandwich maker which I thought was excellent. ( I have stayed s/c before and only had a 2 ring burner and small fridge ) . A large pine table with 2 chairs. There was a small washing basket which was handy.
The bedroom was 2 pine single beds with a good hard matress, pine wardrobe, dressing table and bedside table. Air con was in the bedroom but wasn't really needed during the night as our room only got the sun during the rising which I managed to get up one morning to watch. Our room had double doors onto the large balcony. One door in the kitchen area and the other our bedroom. Please remember that this is a self catering resort and you are only supplied the 1st toilet roll, rooms are only cleaned Monday and Thursday but a brush and mop and bucket are found on the landings. Towels are only changed on Thursdays. I always buy the 99p towels from ikea and take them on every holiday we have been on and left them when we leave due to the fact that towels are no longer changed on a daily basis.
Every room has a garden and pool view and the gardens are very well looked after and cared for with lovely green grass. The pool was also very clean and very welcoming. There is no fighting for beds around the pool as there are more than enough to go around. There is a small table with a parasol for every 2 beds. Charlies hideaway bar is open from early morning to late at night. You can order food also from the small grill there. Prices are the same almost every where around Corfu.
The walk into Roda villiage is just 10 minutes away and on the way there are a few watering holes if so desired. Supermarkets are about a 15 minute walk into Acharavi. We found the easiest way was to walk along the beach road upto Acharavi . There are several exits that will take you there.
If you have never been to Corfu before try to remember that it is a Country that is unspoilt and I heard this year from someone who had their first visit to the island that its like going back in time 30 years or more and these people loved it so much they want to buy a property there.
I would recommend hiring a car if at all possible and visit the island and some of the small villiages. The Corfiot's are the most friendliest people you could meet. Stop of at a tavernia along one of the many roads and try some real Greek food.
Lastly if you need internet, Charlies hideaway bar offers this free but Buy a drink while your there please :o)
