This is firstly not a hotel. It is a pub that does food - yet it seems to think it is more than that.
Sunday Roast around the country ranges from £5 to £lots more. Those who are £lots more tend to have a reason. Sadly The Ship has the reason of, becauseit can, or so it seems.
The food is very average, beef was bland and veggies for 2 were just enough for 1 and at £12.95 for just the main plus very inflated drinks prices we were very disappointed.
When you visit an establishement that chooses for whatever reason to charge more that perhaps it should you would expect a friendly welcome, well dressed staff and clean tables - not much to ask for?
Well, we arrived and were reluctantly told where our table was, not shown to it. The main waitress wore a short denim skirt with 'animal' on the bottom. The table had spilt candle wax on it and many dirty marks.
I could go on but cannot be bnothered. We will never return to this nor it's sister pub. Very very expensive and not up to much. In fact the last Toby Carvery I had (and I don't like them much) was better than this and did not cost £40 plus drinks for 2 people to have 2 courses!
