“Warm welcome in an attractive house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Twin room with ensuite shower room - clean and warm, with the usual tea/coffee. We were offered fresh milk in a flask for the tea. There was a sitting room, which we didn't use, and one large table in the breakfast room. No piped music, thank goodness! Good breakfast, eggs boiled to our specification, choice of brown or white toast, good coffee and choice of teas. Friendly family, with horses, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs. Plenty of space to park and a good pub down the road for dinner.

“Lovely Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2009

We stayed for one night with our four children on a family trip. It's a beautiful old manor and the owners make you feel right at home. Amazing restaurant just a walk down the road!

“Wonderful stay fabulous hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2008

We stayed at Burcombe Manor on the night of our Wedding as did my family. Wendy and Nick were wonderful on the day working behind the scenes to provided us with a faultless day.

The rooms are large and comfortable with an air of being at home. Wendy and Nick are wonderful hosts and make you feel nothing is to much trouble.

In the morning we had alovely breakfast around a large dining table. My sister is vegetarian and this again was catered for with ease.

I would highly recommend Burcombe Manor, with its charming rooms and lovely owners you can't fail to have a lovely stay.

“A wonderful English experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2007

My retired parents and I enjoyed our five-night stay at Burcombe Manor perhaps more than any other experience during our trip to England and Wales.

The breakfast was superb and abundant with homemade jam and local products. The hosts were as nice as could be to us, with good advice about places to visit and very generous with their own maps and copies of information.

The house is a lovely Victorian manor house and the bedrooms have nice views through operable windows overlooking the surrounding fields and hedgerows -- not a thing to be seen but loveliness all around.

The surrounding countryside is so scenic and the location perfectly peaceful while still being very close to so many attractions. (We were impressed with the darkness of the countryside at night in particular.)

It was a lifetime wish come true to tramp around in nearby Grovely Wood and see the English bluebells in bloom in early May. The nightly ramble down to the village pub was also a treat, as was the view of the River Nadder with its swans and yellow irises (flags) across the road from the manor house. For walkers, it is an excellent location to explore the downlands and woodlands of South Wiltshire.

Burcombe Manor combined the comfort of a fine small hotel with the ambience and informality of a true homestay, as this is the seat of a working family farm.

Everything was perfect. We could not have imagined a better introduction to the English countryside on our first trip to the UK. I would recommend it to anyone.

“Burcombe Manor is delightful”

I sorted through dozens of places to stay in (near) Salisbury, England, and I am so happy I chose Burcombe Manor. Warm, friendly people, beautiful countryside; delicious full English breakfast and lots of fruit & cerial etc.; warm and spacious room (we had the 2-single-bed room); beautifully decorated; spotlessly clean; very reasonably priced. There are only 3 bedrooms; I saw two and both were very large and comfortable with wonderful views, attached bathroom and fireplace in each. There is a sitting area just outside the rooms at the top of the stairs. I took advantage of the reading material set out there. The dining room is delightful with a beautiful view. Check their web site if you are interested, although I don't think it nearly reflects how lovely this place really is. Directions are on the website and seemed to work just fine for us as we were driving north from Portsmouth - we had no trouble even in the dark. Burcombe Manor is located about 4 miles south of Salisbury. Don't miss this place - I'm only sorry we could only stay the one night.
