We booked a 2 bedroomed log cabin over the internet and chose this site because it was family run, quiet and '100 mtrs' from the beach. Our accommodation was at the top of a hill, at least 10 mins walk from reception, so nowhere near the beach. The '2 bedrooms' were actually bunk beds with a mezzanine in the roof space which housed a double mattress. It was like trying to sleep in a hairdryer so we moved the mattress into the living area. Ant infestations were common and my 5 year old daughter fell from the top bunk during the night because there was no guard rail. When we asked for one we felt like we were a nuisance. We were offered a mobile home instead of the cabin but it was disgusting. The play area looked like something from the 1940s and was very dangerous. Need I say more except we looked enviously at La Siesta which was just up the road. No more Camping Moby Dick.

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We did not realise of the functionality to respond to your issue until recently, therefore let us clarify your concerns as soon as possible.
We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. However, in response to your comment, we feel it is important to clarify that the campground is effectively 100 metres from the beach. The campground is of a fair size and it is on a hill- it's an old forest re-designed to provide multi-tiered flat terraces and preserving the land in as much as possible. If your parcel was in the upper area, then the walk is obviously farther than 100 metres, but by no means, we ever meant that every place would be 100 metres from the sea, as this is just not possible. Our campground does have the best proximity to the sea of the area and it is in the same village of Calella de Palafrugell, and whilst we have expressed this in our communications, we are currently reviewing this to ensure it is made clearer.
With regards to your unfortunate experience at the bungalow, we really regret that this happened to your family. We need to mention however that the only bungalows with a bunk bed (which by the way are being replaced with a normal bed this year), do ALWAYS have a guard rail. These are always in the bungalow and they can be removed or put up by the bunk bed as the family wishes. Normally, adults do not use them, and if they have children, parents themselves should be responsible to not let them sleep on one without a guard trail. We however will make sure that everyone knows this.
With reference to to the ants you saw, it is sadly possible that there are ants occasionally. The campground is a forest, and, therefore, there are ants; like in many other campgrounds, not just Camping Moby Dick. However, ants (which normally leave under the soil) go up the surface when people leave food out or do not remove the rubbish on a daily basis. Experienced campers know that a forest will have bugs, and are thus very careful removing rubbish frequently, and even some bring products to help them cope with them. We sell non-hazardous eco-friendly products at the little store in the unfortunate event this happened, but this should not happen if clients did not leave food out. In any case, the mobile homes have been removed as they were indeed outdated, and we have kept the bungalows, which we know our clients have always enjoyed.
Finally, the campground was built in the late 60s (not 40s), and you are right that it is a small family run business. We prefer to keep it small, ensuring our clients relax, with or without recreational activities. With regards to the playground, it has always met safety regulations, so they are not dangerous; although we have made efforts this year to refurbish it. We hope this helps clarify your concerns.
