“An oasis of calm in a mad world”

Today we returned home from a three night break at the Burgoyne Hotel, in Reeth, North Yorkshire. It was simply put the most incredible three days away we have EVER had. Having experienced stays in hotels all over the world, we rate this hotel as the best. The village itself is warm and welcoming, with all the genteel charm of a bygone era. The Burgoyne is at the centre of the village, step through it's doors and step back in time, into an establishment where nothing ( And we do mean nothing) is too much trouble. All the staff are very personable, extremely helpful and utterly professional. The hotel is dog friendly! We took two dogs on our visit, one of which is a ten month old Great Dane puppy, not a problem. Towels are provided to dry your wet pet after exploring the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park. The period decor in the Hotel is superb, with two sitting rooms full of comfortable sofas and chairs, the larger of the two having a lovely open fire to sit by, and you can take your pet to sit with you. The hotel serves stupendous breakfasts from a very large menu to suit all tastes. The afternoon teas are a new addition and not to be missed. The dinner menu changed daly and the selection of local produce was expertly transformed into dishes of delight by Chef Paul Salonga and his team. Individual dishes were prepared to cater for my particular food alergy without a fuss. We stayed in the Marrick suite, which boasts an enormous four poster bed in a huge bedroom with an en suite bathroom and walk in dressing room. The views of Swaledale from our widow, looking out over the village green to the magnificent dales beyond was breathtaking. But the real jewels in this veritable crown are Julia and Mo Usman. They gave us a level of personal service that we have NEVER experienced before and in hotels three times the price. Disregard what has gone before, Julia and Mo the new owners will treat you better than royalty! If you want to stay in a hotel that will give you the utmost in service and comfort, go to the Burgoyne. We will be returning as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Speak to Julia all of the nine rooms are different.

“Wonderful wedding in a wonderful place”

We had our wedding at the Burgoyne in September of 2011. We always knew that we would get married at the Burgoyne after visiting it for the first time some 4 years before . It is an enchanting place, and perfect for a small, initimate celebration - just what we wanted .
Mo and Julia took over mid way through us planning our day but they could not have been more helpful, and exceeded our expectations.
Whether getting married, needing a place to stay, or just wanting a beautiful meal out - the Burgoyne delivers in every way.
Once you have experienced it , i am sure you, like us you will return time and time again ... maybe even to get married !!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Swaledale...then sit on the window seat and enjoy the views !!

“Pampered guest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

From the moment you step over the threshold the warm lounges welcome you in with a hug and provide lots of interesting literature for you to browse at your leisure. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean with stunning views over the village green and on to the hills beyond. The locally produced and sourced food was excellent at night and the breakfast provided a huge variety to suit all tastes, including the best kippers my husband has ever had.
Such attention to detail has been paid that you begin to feel like a pampered guest in a private country house! Well done to everyone at The Burgoyne for making our stay so enjoyable.

“Wonderful Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My wife and I were travelling from our home in Northern Ireland to Surrey for Christmas and needed somewhere to stay for 1 night to break the journey. What a wonderful find! The hotel has obviously been someones passion for many years and is sumptuously furnished with antiques, thick pile carpets, lovely wall hangings, fine fabrics and open fires. The Marrick bed room is spacious, very comfortable and with superb views of the dales. I had thought I might pop out for a pint after dinner in one of the villages numerous pubs but after a superb 4 courses at the Burgoyne I didn't have room! The venison steak with madeira sauce was the culinary highlight for me. Mo, Julia and the rest of the staff will be seeing us again!

Room Tip: Marrick. Pricey, but spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed with superb views.

“Felt Like a country gentleman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The new owners have done a super job and taken over where Mr Derek left off.

A lovely hotel super building and the views from the front are awesome.

Good old fashioned values service food. Lots of charm and comfort.

Food fairly simple and only one sitting for dinner but it suits the place.

People dress for dinner, what a treat.
