Very warm welcome from Peter and his wife, lovely cup of tea in sunshine, much needed. Immaculate home, although felt a little uncomfortable, this home was like a show home, credit to Peter and his lovely wife. Would have loved a soak in bath instead of shower.

We have just done the coast to coast on bikes and The School House was the best place we stayed at. Peter was a great host. He whisked our bikes off to his secure bike storage whilst asking us in the same breath if we would like a cup of hot tea and some home-made cake (beautiful apricot cake!!). He let us relax in the guest lounge and then took us up to our room. Wow!! Top marks for cleanliness and décor (cream carpets, modern décor). Yes, there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room or a TV but there is a guest lounge where we happily spent a few hours watching ‘Men in Black’ later that evening. Peter was more than happy to make us drinks but was not intrusive. He was also the only person on the route who asked if we had washing that needed doing. There was a small charge for this service (£5) but I would have been willing to pay twice that as all of our smelly cycling clothes were whisked away and returned dry and fresh the next day. Also, the breakfast was AMAZING. Fresh fruit, baked bread (not just your sliced white here!), porridge with sultanas and cinnamon, home-made jam etc and as we were a bit fed up of fried breakfasts we had smoked salmon and cream cheese. Top marks for a guest house that is out-of-the ordinary and is a real gem.

I stayed here with friends for one night whilst walking Wainwrights Coast to Coast trail. While I would agree with the previous comments about Peter being rather concerned that our rucksacks didn't hit the walls, it was understandable as this B&B is immaculate. I would say that all the other B&Bs we stayed in expected us to remove boots before entering. The room was extremely comfortable - fantastic bed and lots of pillows, amazing view over the countryside and quiet. Modern shower room with plenty of thick towels. Peter gave us a glass of wine on the house while he arranged dinner at the Overton House Cafe - fantastic restaurant particularly if you are a fish lover. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return here.

We stayed here in July for one night during our Coast to Coast walk. It really is an immaculate house but maybe a bit too immaculate for a couple of Coast to Coasters. We felt a bit uncomfortable with all of the cream carpets etc in case we made a mess. The host was friendly enough but he was very keen to get our boots off us before we got anywhere near the door. The views are brilliant and we had a great meal at the Overton House Cafe which they had kindly booked for us. I think this would be a better pace to stay if you were visiting Reeth by car and not wearing wet and muddy clothes.
