“Very very very good. Highly recommendable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We decided to stay at Maltby (so named after one of the RAF pilots assigned to bombing Dams in Nazi Germany), after reading the elated reviews here on Tripadvisor.
We were not dispappointed. What you get here is a personalized and hearty welcome, cosy and comfortable spotlessly clean rooms (we had booked the two of them, but Barbara, our hostess, will accomodate only one party -four people maximum- at a time anyway). Bathroom was small, but neat and tidy and, of course, extremely clean.
House rules may seem a bit stricter than in other B&B (rooms have to be vacated at 11:00 AM every day) and breakfast a bit early for people vacationing ( 8:00, but negotiable to 8:30).
Hostess Barbara Poyser is a vey nice and accomodating Lady, and her breakfast is one of the best! Tasty, abundant and healthy!
One of the reveiwers mentionned a steep staircase to get to the rooms. Really I see this staircase as easily manageable for all except those afflicted with serious mobilty issues. The house is situated in the small village of Breakish, and easy to find from the main road ( there's an easy 1/4 mile straight gravel road leading to the house;
Views are astonishing from the rooms and the Isle of Skye was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. The scenery there is just always breathtaking, no matter where you find yourself on the Island.

“Perfect base for a sight seeing get away, with an A+ Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

We were looking for a weekend break at Easter (and for my partners birthday) to relax from what has been a stressful year so far (trying to sell flats, preparing for a baby, changes in the work place, etc). It didn't take long after leaving Aberdeen for the drive up for the troubles to start melting away, and certainly after our first nights sleep and cooked breakfast we were feeling like our worries were far away.

Barabara services breakfast at 8.15 in her beautiful kitchen, and its like being a kid again. I've not many experience of B+Bs, but I think this was special, as you are the only party staying. A bit of chat with hostess whilst you have you cereal of what not, watching the news and getting the weather report for the day - then you are left to it to have your lovely cooked breakfast. For me it reminds me of being a kid and being looked after by my granny or my aunt, sitting at the table and getting ready for the days activities. I was often spoiled on holiday...

The breakfast menu provides a great choice, and when we were there there was home made cinamon plums and home made cheese scones on the menu, and every day the toast was made fresh from a bread maker. 3 days in a row we rolly pollied our way out of the house for our sight seeing.

Other features worth telling you about are the views from the house, the cosy comfort of the bed, and the lovely bathroom.

We left Skye tension free and ready to come back to the reality fresh and revived, and our stay at Maltby was as much part of that as the beauty of the land scape.

“Wonderfully warm reception and stay, loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

We stayed four nights, rooms were very clean, warm and inviting, with a shared bath. Our group was from the same family, so this wasn't a problem. The home has a lovely view from almost every angle of the land around it, and owner Barbara was very helpful with directions and suggestions for us. She's a great cook, if you don't want to go out; meals are taken in the kitchen area which feels like home to us. We loved it! This was a return trip for us, and although we stayed one night at a different B&B, we would definitely recommend a stay at Maltby if you are in the area.

“Like visiting an old friend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

Maltby House is a fantastic croft house, hosted by the most gracious Mrs. Poyser, and canine companion, Jack. The views are great at any time of the year; everything is accessible from this location. Comfort food, comfortable bedding, wonderful conversation, etc. We've been before and will definitely be back to visit. This is the perfect location from which to tour all of Skye! We loved it and just can't say enough!

“A wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

Our five stars would start with the warm greeting at the front door, to the comfortable accommodations, to the great breakfast, to the beautiful view and to a wonderful hostess. It was a great experience and we would highly recommend a visit.
