We were looking for a weekend break at Easter (and for my partners birthday) to relax from what has been a stressful year so far (trying to sell flats, preparing for a baby, changes in the work place, etc). It didn't take long after leaving Aberdeen for the drive up for the troubles to start melting away, and certainly after our first nights sleep and cooked breakfast we were feeling like our worries were far away.
Barabara services breakfast at 8.15 in her beautiful kitchen, and its like being a kid again. I've not many experience of B+Bs, but I think this was special, as you are the only party staying. A bit of chat with hostess whilst you have you cereal of what not, watching the news and getting the weather report for the day - then you are left to it to have your lovely cooked breakfast. For me it reminds me of being a kid and being looked after by my granny or my aunt, sitting at the table and getting ready for the days activities. I was often spoiled on holiday...
The breakfast menu provides a great choice, and when we were there there was home made cinamon plums and home made cheese scones on the menu, and every day the toast was made fresh from a bread maker. 3 days in a row we rolly pollied our way out of the house for our sight seeing.
Other features worth telling you about are the views from the house, the cosy comfort of the bed, and the lovely bathroom.
We left Skye tension free and ready to come back to the reality fresh and revived, and our stay at Maltby was as much part of that as the beauty of the land scape.
