2 night stop over to see some relatives, rooms were smart and very clean, bar was a bit lively in the evening but we were there over a weekend, had a lovely sunday roast to end a very enjoyable stay in exminster. will stay again when visiting again

What a disappointment . Things are just not the same. Its previous quirkiness with a few oddities were always forgiven due to friendliness and cleanliness, but that wasn't the case this time. Accommodation was dirty . It has changed ownership, and we won't waste our money again. Try the nearby Premier Inn or Travel lodge for good value, clean accommodation.
Heating and hot water is now also rationed, and wasn't on at appropriate times. shame.

I have just spent a week at the Stowey Arms and I can only say what an absolute joy.
We used it as a base visiting relatives and touring the area and found it a perfect place to start each day.
The food was fantastic, and proved amazing value for money. As a couple we had 2 brilliant lunches on the Sunday we arrived, not carvery, just properly served excellent Sunday lunch and at 2 for £10, you couldn't cook it for that.
Wednesday was grill night and we had a choice of 3 different meats, again 2 for £10 and believe me, I would have paid over twice that amount, my steak was beatiful and my wife had a lamb steak that melted in her mouth.
Friday was fish night again 2 excellent fish and chip meals for £10. We did eat on the other nights from the main menu and this again was lovely fresh home cooking.
The staff were lovely from management down and we will certainly visit them again.

I stayed at this hotel earlier this year and really enjoyed my time and the staff and managers were so friendly and very helpful. I have just returned from my trip to exeter and stayed at The Stowey Arms again and it has come into new management fairly recently from what I could tell. The new managers are extremely rude and arrogant especially the male. The service really has gone downhill which is such a shame as it was a lovely pub because this couple took over. The male manager seems to sit down all day and night filling his liver with strongbow and the woman is constantly flirting with all the male customers.... Very odd couple! The rooms were disgusting.... dirt, hair and dust everywhere and stains on the sheets. Room 2 is directly above the smoking area so if you do not smoke I would not recommend staying in that room. Would definitely not recommend this hotel or the pub itself due to the new Landlord and Landlady.
