La Casa.
Staying at the la casa was a delight. Why, well the company of David and Mario for one. The quiet, unheard of. At night the fire upstairs in the lounge, lights turned down, the candles lit. Soft Spanish guitar played on the stereo.
In the mornings we walked up behind the Casa, to and beyond the abandoned village, beyond the forest to the crest of the road, hell of a walk but very rewarding. The landscape, quite frankly breathtaking. A fresh dusting of snow on the higher surrounding hills melting in the morning sun.
Return for breakfast. Breakfast, quite frankly, ridiculous it shouldn’t be that good. Who knew that cocoa pods have a milky like liquid inside, yum, thanks Mario. Stunning ham, cereals, pastries and breads really too many things to name.
Dinner by the fire every night (we we’re lucky). Well thought out meals, not too big, not too small….. For me maybe a pinch more salt but the food was really fantastic. (I’m being picky here!)
We where going to go back, however, La Casa was closed when we tried. Back open now, we will make it for sure, some time and soon. I would like to be there in the warmer times, but I don’t want to spoil what we had with the cosy warm fires.
If you’re in the neighbourhood you won’t regret dropping in, if you’re not, the extra miles will not be wasted.
