This an excellent hotel and a unique experience. It is pricey. The location is spectacular (on the top of a mountain), the hotel is wonderfully restored and the grounds are beautiful. It is a great place to relax. It is not too far from 2 Pyrennees national parks which are great for hiking and sightseeing. Mario can give you details. The breakfast was great but dinners are average. (alternatives are too far away because it is very isolated)_ look at Google Maps. This place is highly recommended to those who just want to relax and/or those who want exceptional hiking in the area (ie 40 kms away). This place was one of the hilights of our trip.

It is not often that you find a place like this. Everything about it is perfect.!

We were greeted by Mario on our arrival and given a tour of the house, and what a beautiful house it is. It has been renovated very sympathetically, and to a very high standard. Our room was very comfortable, with stunning views from our balcony.

The food, (we ate breakfast and dinner on our 4 night stay), and all were delicious, using fresh local produce and presented very nicely. Wine was also very reasonably priced.

Mario and Andreas were very friendly, Mario was the perfect host and recommended us places to visit whilst staying with them. We visited the nearby village of Ainsa which was very pretty, we also walked for a few hrs in the National Park which was absolutely beautiful. It is so easy to do nothing at Casa de San Martin as there are many areas to sit, relax and take in the stunning scenery.

The only thing we would do differently when we return, would be to hire a small 4 x 4 car, as the drive up to Casa San Martin is a bit bumpy, but it is so worth the bumpy ride when you turn the corner and see the house in the distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and cannot praise Mario, his staff, Casa de San Martin and the surrounding areas enough! Looking forward to our next visit already.

We spent four nights at the beautiful and tranquil Casa de San Martin. The bane of booking hotels on the web is deceitful photos but in this case the pictures just do not do justice to this special place. The hotel itself is a calm and tasteful retreat which would be a great place to stay wherever it was located. In this spectacular setting, however, it is perfect. We were a little worried that the remote setting would be too much for us but on arriving we didn't want to go anywhere.

We stayed for 2 nights and it was a perfect Pyrenees trip (although one more night would have been better!)
The house and surrounding gardens are impeccable - such attention to detail.
Mario our host was so charming and helpful.
The atmosphere was tranquil and romantic.
Our room and bathroom were great - rustic elegance.
Dinner was very high quality and good value at 35 euro per head for 4 courses (wine excluded but they have a great regional wine list).
We spent our middle day walking in the Ordesa valley, a 20 min drive away from the house - we did the 4-5 hour walk and it was incredible.
Finally, it is the location of this hotel that is the most memorable thing - so remote and you feel like you are a million miles from anywhere.
We absolutely loved it.
