I booked this hotel for my wedding celebration. I will not go into the very long and horrible story, but suffice to say the owner simply tricked us into coming up to the hotel multiple times "to make arrangements". Every time she had us eat at her overpriced restaurant "to try the food" and then she was too busy to discuss details and we had to come up again and again and again, each time driving all the way from Madrid. She eventually backed down from our agreements and tried moving the ceremony to the dark, depressing bar they have at the hotel. Needless to say, we ended up celebrating our wedding elsewhere, at Castillo El Collado, which is an awesome hotel with an amazing, hard working owner.

We recently traveled to Spain in search of the best wine. We new it was in the Rioja region and settled on the medieval village of Laguardia. I can't say enough good things about this mystical hamlet. The hotel we chose, Posada Mayor de Migueloa, was perfect in every way. Clean, hospitable and accomidating, centrally located, authentically romantic decor, and full of the character we were searching for. Sleep quality in Spain in general, if you want a centrally located hotel room with charicter, will be lacking in sleep quality as the Spaniards just have a different schedule then most Americans. This hotel was worth a little sleep depravation!! The value to experience ration is high and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

My wife and I recently spent a week touring basque country. We spent two nights in Laguardia and stayed at the Posada Mayor de Migueloa. The hotel has a great location, right in the center of this quaint walled village town. The rooms were spacious and well kept. The rooms were well decorated to go with the style of the hotel. We enjoyed drinks on the rooftop and ate at the bar. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is owned and run by a family. We met all the family members and they were friendly and helpful. Don't forget to say hello to Candy, the family Yorkie. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This Laguardia hotel, in the La Rioja region of the Basque country, is very unique in that it is very old, and the rooms are here, there and everywhere! You go up a few stairs, and there a couple of rooms, then up a few more, a couple of rooms, etc. There are a lot of stairs! The rooms have comfortable beds, and every possible toiletry item is provided in the bathroom. The bodega and caves underground were really fun to see, and the wine tasting was really great. Juan, one of the owner's sons, made our experience really fun. Both he and his brother Javier, helped us with winery tour reservations, and contacting the tourism office so we could see the cathedral in town. We also had a fabulous dinner in the hotel dining room.
