Great location, very small and basic roomswhich were quite dark and dingy with an outdated decor. I was shocked to see that on one occasion the ensuite in my room (in particular the toilet) was left dirtier after cleaning than before cleaning in the morning - it was apparent that it had been used by someone during my absence! When I reported this to the staff in reception, they couldn't even manage a sincere apology let alone any other gesture of goodwill.

There were great views from the hotel restaurant on the top floor but unfortunately the menu was very restricted, especially for vegetarians. All in all a very disappointing stay, I expected a lot more from a Swiss 4 star hotel.

I had a business meeting in Horgen so opted to stay here rather than in Zurich and have a longer journey to my meeting. The Hotel is opposite the main Horgen railway station next to the Lake. There is a regular direct train service from the airport which takes about 30-40 mins. I stayed in a standard room, the rooms are basic no frills , the carpets in my room were a bit worn but the price was good. I found the room a bit stuffy so I turned off the heating in my room and bathroom and opened the windows , although a little noisy from the passing trains I did manage a good nights sleep. There is a Bar on the top floor with views across the lake. The Bar also serves food nothing fancy eg. garlic bread, pizza, pasta. I found it quite adequate. Maybe because I stayed out of season and the hotel wasn't very busy but the Barman doubled up as the waiter and cook! Breakfast is also served on the top floor, usual choice of cooked, continental, pastries....
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the Barman, not all the staff are english speaking.
I would have no hesitation in staying here again on my next business trip.

I stayed three almost weeks at Meierhof recently, and overall I had a very good stay at this hotel. I agree with some of the other comments, the good ones and the not so great's. The location is good, very close to bus and train station. That always comes at a price, you do hear the trains! The reception staff were friendly and helpful - in particular one Mr Andreas was outstanding in the help he always gave us. I had a decent room, although I was agahst at the tininess of my coworker's room (she later had it changed).
Cons - breakfast! Esp. for the price, it was a bad breakfast, although the view is really nice from that room upstairs. Why the system was so bad when it came to breakfast beats me - they'd take your room number when we did some days try the breakfast, but somehow that count of how many days breakfast was taken is not communicated to reception - during checkout, one has to remember and give the count. In addition the fruit was often stale, and the spread was not worth the price. The other cons was the laundry - often wouldn't come on time, sometimes 2-3 days or more late.
PROS: RECEPTION Staff - very nice! Overall comfortable.
