“Can't beat a good B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

And 'The Old Post House' is a very good B & B. We have stayed in many B & B's and are rarely disappointed particularly since the advent of Trip Advisor.
TOPH was very clean and comfortable and the hosts friendly and helpful, the village is pretty and very handy for Stonehenge and Salisbury.
We agree with the other contributors comments.

“Loved this B & B - wonderful hosts - we'll be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

My sister and I stayed at this B & B in Sept. 2011. The accommodations were charming, comfortable and pristine. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, cooked to order by our wonderful hosts. The village of Great Wishford is quaint and quiet and steeped in history. Salisbury and Stonehenge are a short drive away. Wish we could have stayed longer....but we will be back. I agree with ALL of the great reviews about the Old Post House and have no hesitation in recommending it to all travellers.

“Charming B&B with wonderful hosts.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Old Post House from 9/12 through 9/16/11. It is a lovely place with comfortable bedrooms, a nice breakfast area and a pretty garden. Being just outside Salisbury, it is well located for seeing the sights in the surrounding area such as Stonehenge, Stourhead and Old Sarum. The village it is in is quaint and pretty, with a couple of pubs that surprised us in the quality of their food. There is public transit that will get you into Salisbury, but a car will be an asset for getting around. Our host Paulene was very friendly and very helpful. I was quite ill during part of our stay (a bug from the NYC-London flight I believe) and Paulene helped us get to the walk-in clinic to see a Dr. to get me well again. She even took my wife sightseeing while I spent a day in bed recuperating. We can highly recommend this B&B.

“Restored our faith in B & Bs”

Stayed for the week in October 2011, Found it to be a modern, comfortable B & B with a wonderful host and excellent breakfast. Pauline ( along with Noodle and Yoda ) made us feel very welcome and she was very helpful with lots of ideas on what to see and do in the region. Ate at all the local pubs which had good food and great atmosphere with two being within easy walking distance, two more were 2 minutes drive away. We were sad to leave this 'fairy tale' little village.

“Home with character, adorable village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

My husband, 4 year old son, and I stayed at The Old Post House for 2 nights last month (September 2011).

As its name suggests, the house used to be a Post Office. It's been modernized, yet keeps much of its charm. Our room was a family room, with a double bed, single bed, desk, nightstands, TV, cupboard (closet). The ensuite WC with shower was a little tight, and we had some trouble getting the Power Shower quite right with regards to hot water. Bed was very comfortable; I was actually sick during this visit with a fever. The hosts kindly fixed a breakfast tray for me, which my husband brought up. I also stayed in the room the entirety of a day to sleep and was not disturbed at all.

The breakfasts were wonderful, as were our hosts and their two dogs and cat. Pauline had an excellent knowledge of local walking trails, hikes, and views. I wish we had more time (and I had the health!) to take some of her recommendations.

The location was in a quiet small village, very well situated near Salisbury and Stonehenge. If you want to be right in Salisbury, this isn't for you. We loved being in such a quiet and beautiful village.
