“disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

i stayed in this hotel in june 2011with my husband. we were on our honeymoon and the hotel was not at all upto a 4 star expectation. they did not have any tea coffee maker in the room and charged extra for sending hot water to the room. staff does not understand english properly. even the room was not anything great to be called a 4 star property. only good thing about the stay was the breakfast which was delicious. we heard so much about ibiza but were disappointed to reach there because the location is not great..its sad and boring.. if u are young and coming there for fun. u should find a hotel at a better location in san antonio. we started enjoying our trip only when we went to san antonio.

“Standard 'holiday brochure' property - good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Stayed for 4 nights in October 2011. Hotel is very popular with more mature german clients as noted by Chrissie r. I found the staff to be neutral - neither friendly nor rude. Had no problem with being understood although I do always try to speak a smattering of local language when i travel abroad. Only had breakfast at hotel which was fine - a large selection and a fresh orange juicing machine.
Location is good - on the beach in easy walking distance to many bars and restaurants. Also not too far to walk into town if you are feeling energetic! The pool is nice, clean and never had a problem getting a sun bed.
Bedrooms are typical ‘holiday brochure’ style rooms - had one with twin beds and balcony. Nothing special but clean and plenty of hot water.
We went out every evening so cannot comment on bar / restaurant / entertainment.

Room Tip: Sea view room

“Great Hotel”

We stayed at the Argos Hotel on 20th October for 3 days. The hotel is in Talamanca, and is in a quiet area a short walk away from the harbour. We had a sea view room which had a lovely view of the bay, well worth paying that little bit extra. The food was great, breakfast had the usual hot and cold selection and dinner was top quality! We were pleasantly surprised as the price of the hotel was very reasonable, yes, I know its the quiet season but still was cheap. I disagree with the negative reviews but agree that the staff were rude. There was only one woman on reception, she didn't greet us or smile or even answer our simple questions properly. They do need to sort their reception staff out!! the other members of staff were ok.
The Marina is a short walk away, you can get on a ferry which takes you to Ibiza Town, its v cheap, runs every 30 mins and well worth visiting. Ibiza Town is pretty with lots of shops and restaurants and a castle well worth exploring. We hired a car from a small office next door to the hotel and travelled around the island, what a good idea that was!! Santa Eularia is pretty, Sant Vicent beach is amazing and the Hippy Market on Saturday was fab. Great island, great hotel, but you MUST hire a car and explore the island.

Room Tip: Definitely Sea View

i am currently writing the review from the argos hotel. my husband and i have been very dissapointed with our trip here. we have found the staff very rude and not friendly at all only one nice girl at reception who is the only person who has spoken to us. we were not greeted when we arrived the man at reception was talking over us to someone else in spanish and just handed us a room key and said nothing. we have also found that we are the only english people in the whole hotel the majority of people are german and the staff seem to speak fluent german but very little english. we havnt felt comfortable or welcome for the whole of our stay. the hotel itself is nice and our room is fine we have a lovely sea view. the food is just ok but breakfast we had chicken nuggets and fish cakes! and u only get provided with a drink at breakfast if you want a drink with dinner you have to pay extra. we were also really angry last night as we went to the bar at 7pm to be told we couldnt have a drink untill it opened at 8pm. at 7.15 some spanish people arrived and were served drinks!!!! we deffinately feel like we have been singled out not only because we are english but because we are young and this hotel seem to cater for the older generation which didnt bother us at all but seems to bother them

“Sadly very disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Argos for 5 nights at the beginning of October and unfortunately were very disappointed with the hotel.

We checked in and there was no "Hello", "Welcome" or any greeting of any sort. Another guest came over to ask for a map and was completely ignored! When we asked what time breakfast finished (and the other things reception staff would normally tell you) the receptionist just pointed at a card he'd given us with our key and turned his back on us!! We were sea facing on the 3rd floor and the room was just ok, very very dated and very cheap looking but clean.
The sea view is worth it though.

Breakfast was just mediocre, but there was at least a good selection even of it wasn't the best food around.

We had lunch at the hotel bar one day, my partner ordered a burger. Quite possibly the most horrendous looking burger I've ever seen, it didn't even look like meat!!! I wouldn't have given it to my dog!!

Other than that, the hotel itself is in a fantastic location!! Talamanca is lovely and it's so close to Ibiza town you can hop on the little ferry over for next to nothing and be there in minutes! There are loads of little bars and restaurants along the sea front which serve great fresh food. I highly recommend Cafe sidney by the marina and Sa Punta bar and restaurant which is the furthest bar along the bay from the hotel.

I would go back to Talamanca but would never stay here again, the Simbad across the bay is far better!

Room Tip: The sea view is worth it.
