We stayed last weekend at the Belambra Club at Praz sur Arly, close to Megeve. We are still not sure whether we in the end liked it or not, some things were very positive, others very negative... For children it's overall great, but also has it's limitations...So, here's our evaluation:
Positive:
- excellent child care for various ages (our son is 14 months and seemed to love it threre), great big facilities and qualified childminders
- very good food assortment for babies at dinner and lunch on top of ready-made baby-meals / cereals / powder milk
- quite close to shops, restaurants and also to the slopes (though a bit far to walk)
- the food at the buffet was simple but tasty
- we were the only non-French guests, but everybody was very open-minded and friendly to us
- we got a free baby-kit with cot and bottle-heater
- free wine (self-service) at dinner and lunch
Negative:
- the rooms were very small, but what was much worse is that the air was EXTREMELY dry due to an old heating system. All three of us had problems sleeping at night because we always had a very dry cough
- The mattress wasn't very comfy. This is of course an individual preference but my husband had serious problems with his back in the mornings...
- our room (no 18, main building) was very loud, especially on the saturday where there was a disco animation until late night
- check out was already at 10am in the morning
not an issue but room to improve:
- limited chioice at breakfast (at least for a German taste...), e.g. no fresh fruit, no veggies such as tomatoes or cucumbers, only 2 sorts of cheese and 1 sort of ham besides sweet things like marmelade, jam, or chocolate spread
- we would have wished for some playing area on top of the child care facilities, i.e. something where we could go with our son, but there was nothing outside the opening hours of the child care
- a playing corner in the dining room would have made life easier as well :-)
