“Step into a Fairytale”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

At least one day in the Val de Loire should include the ‘dream team’ of Domaine de Beauvois - to dine and sleep - and a visit to Chenonceau, to indulge in some romantic château viewing. This combo surely cannot be surpassed anywhere for style, beauty and sheer elegance.

The hotel, Domaine de Beauvois, stands in the village of Luynes, amidst 350-acres of dense woodland. Once through the imposing gates, you become part of the landscape of an oil painting. Sloping lawns rush down to meet the driveway and beyond rises the elegant, peaceful castle that has been renovated around its core - the 15th-century central tower. Majestic trees frame the exquisite picture - their leaves stroked with many shades of green, yellow and silvery-grey. They are beautifully reflected in the waters of the large lake at the edge of the garden and in the green pond of the plump goldfish.

We slept in the old turret itself and climbed the ancient, stone staircase to discover a round bedroom (number 6), boasting the original fireplace and low, chestnut beams arranged in a circular pattern. It is a grand, historic room furnished in the style of the17th-century; no hyperbole can do justice to this special place where a gracious lifestyle still reigns.

Room Tip: All rooms are gracious and quiet

“Nice but not enough”

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days for our honeymoon. We love the hotel location as it is far away from everything what we prefer. Quite, nice rooms, may be a little bit small, Staff was excellent.
But there was nobody to carry our luggages, the receptionist asked us to help but she was a woman so I did not let her :). Breakfast, open buffet, was very bad. Nothing to eat. I am not sure if it is the case for all France. We never try lunch or dinner.
Surrounding around the hotel looks beautiful but weather did not allow us to explore.
For 2, max 3 days I may suggest this hotel if you have car of course. I am sure there are better hotels.
Also dont go on September. Very cold and rainy for our luck.

“not as good as it sounds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

The room was clean but worn. The service was good but... the meal in the restaurant was not gourmet. We had much better in other places in France. The bikes were not in good repair. We had to search the bikes to find two usable ones. The trails were rutted and full of logs and brush. Not safe. It was quiet, and the staff was very helpful. It is out of the way but we had a rental car so we enjoyed driving the countryside. The online pictures are better than it looks. When we got there we struggled to find the "lake".

“Peaceful hotel with friendly staff”

A bit out of the way, but we enjoyed our stay. Nice, spacious rooms. Go to Boulangerie Pâtisserie at 16 de la République in Luynes.

“A bit of a let-down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

Very beautiful location, but after we'd been at a nicer place in the Loire for a couple of nights (for the same price), we found the hotel "tired". Dinner was good, but not fabulous. Restaurant was cavernous. Staff was excellent, though.
