Our stay was based on previous visits to this hotel for food. The downstairs is very nice, re-furbished with excellent breakfast and staff.
Upstairs is so very different, the first room offered to us had windows that were falling out of the surround with howling cold air, resulting in a freezing cold room. The room smelt of cigarette smoke, the receptionist blamed it on the re-furb. The head board to the bed was badly stained!
The second and only spare room, was nicely furnished, but the radiator did not work, a fan heater had been left in the room, so staff obviously knew about the problem, We had to leave the fan on all night as it was freezing, which made it difficult to sleep.
More worryingly there was NO SMOKE DETECTOR, completely illegal, we called the reception to ask about this, the telephone was not connected, when I asked the receptionist about this the next morning!!!.
I would not suggest anybody stay in this hotel as it is not safe. I consulted a fire inspector who explained that not having any fire safety is definately against the law.
We were glad to leave as we were getting nowhere with the morning staff when we brought up our problems.

We have just returned after a night at the CLIFF HOTEL - over all it was a pleasant stay, staff were friendly and the food was nice..... Our room seemed to have been recently refurbished, BUT i would say it was NOT to a very high standard, especially the front of the room which wasnt finished (around the door / wall) The room was very clean!! However there was NO wi fi as stated on web page, no trouser press, no bin! Our voucher also advertised a glass of preseco on arival, but we had water in our room instead? :( saying that IF there was another good voucher deal and we happend to be in the area we would stay again :)

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely stay here on the 8th Nov. Loved the afternoon tea and champage. Had a good nights sleep. Staff all very friendly and attentive. Would definately stay here again.Very reasonably priced hotel.Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Stayed at the Cliff Hotel after a visit to the pier hotel a few week before and thought I would give it a try. Wish I hadnt bothered to be honest.

Room very dated but clean, Bar was not very clean and tidy, dirty table and empty glasses not being cleared, food average at best. Service in general not very attentive.

Will not be staying here ever again. Poor
