I stayed here for 2 nights in August. I was in the area for a wedding and I chose to stay in this hotel as there were several of my friends also staying.
The room was very good, it was probably one of the biggest hotel rooms I have stayed in and it was clean.
Location - this seemed to be quite a way out of Great Yarmouth itself and as I had no car, it did seem quite isolated. The hotel had an adjoining Toby Carvery.
Staff - I had stayed at another travelodge the previous night who had called this hotel before 12pm to ask if my room was available which they advised it was and that I was able to check in early (obviously for an additional charge of £10). So I changed my travel arrangements to arrive earlier. When I arrived at this lodge there was no-body working on reception, eventually a cleaner came past and asked if he could help (he was very helpful & polite), I told him the arrangements that had been made for early check in to which he repsponded none of the rooms were ready and that they were waiting to be inspected by the Manager. I asked if I could speak to the manager/recepionist to which I was advised they did not know where they were. When I did eventually check in the receptionist made no effort to explain about check-out times, facilities etc, infact I do not recall them even smiling.
Food - I did not pre-book breakfast at this lodge, however, I decided to buy the breakfast that morning and eat with my friends. When I went to pay I handed over a £10 note to which they replied we have not change, they told me I had to pay on my card, however as I wanted to pay by cash the lady went and spoke to someone else in the kitchen who told me unless I had the right money or paid on card I could not eat breakfast.. I was actually quite shocked that they made no effort to get some change, therefore I never actually ate at this hotel. I went to theToby carvery for breakfast, which was cheaper and was apparently a much better quality of food.
I would not stay at this travelodge again, mainly due to the location and because of the poor service and the rudeness of the staff.
On the plus side, if you do choose to stay at this travelodge you can go to the Toby Carvery as thefood is very good quality, cheaper and you get much better service in there.
