I stayed at the avalon with my 3 year old daughter, elderly mother and her friend and the end of January having postponed our original plans to stay just before Christmas due to adverse weather.
My mother is disabled and her friend elderly so Anne & Ray (the owners) gave them a large family room with disabled access wet room on the ground floor which they were very impressed with. I was provided with a first floor family room with double 4 poster bed and a single bed for my 3 year old daughter.
The room was spotless, the bed linen of good quality and fresh, and had everything you needed for a short stay including a partial view of the sea.
The double glazing was very effective and apart from minor noise of a door closing on the neighbouring room, the room was near sound proof.
Having spent a day visiting family and friends and my mother becoming weary from same, we chose to stay in the hotel for the evening and dine there which was pleasant, generous portions at £7 a go which you cannot complain about! Afterwards we retired to the lounge/ bar for a couple of drinks which again were very well priced.
Breakfast was great the next morning and this was followed by a stroll down to the beach (100 metres away down slopes and steps) and a walk along the sea shore.
In summary the Avalon is good value for money, the owners accommodating and good company all for £100 all in- what more can you ask for?
I would stay again (I am quite particular about where I stay by the way!) and have no hesitation reccomending the Avalon- It isnt 5 star luxury hotel but it is a good quality, good value Guest House in my opinion.
