Room (single) was small but it was warm and had everything I needed, plus some unexpected extras (mini jug w/ green tea, robe & slippers, aircon unit, fridge, TV). The bathroom (private) was little, but it was clean and the shower had wonderful water pressure.

Free computers and wifi in the lobby (I could get a weak connection in my room on the 1st floor). Staff are lovely and full of recommendations for the area - I concur with their recommendation for the eating house next door to McD's. The ladies there are so sweet and the food is cheap and cheerful.

Super close to the Train Stations (if you think you might be toing and froing a fair bit, go for the subway one day open ticket: you can't use the JR line, but if you're not opposed to changing trains a couple of times, at Y710, it's a great way to save your dosh), and there's a 24hr mini-mart on the next corner.

I highly recommend using a bike to explore the area, even if it's just to ride down to the post office (go left about 7 blocks down the main road).

We had a few hours to kill after we checked out, but they let us leave our luggage with them for no charge.

Only drawback was that the bed was on the hard side. But after a big day of exploring, it didn't make much difference to sleep quality.

Stayed a week with a group of young adults. Staff is young and extremely friendly & helpful. The Oak has a community vibe in the lobby; met many travelers of all ages (including families) from around the world. Your choice of Japanese or Western style room: choose Japanese....after all, you're in Japan! Tatami mat + comforter = comfy. Clean & basic, each room has its own (teeny - this is Japan) bathroom. Great, safe neighborhood a very short walk to Ueno station, zoo, museum & other attractions. Lovely restaurants for all budgets nearby. Definitely recommend - good value!

My brother and I stayed here last December and had a really great time. We went down Ueno Station, following the direction from the hotel's website. It was a bit of a walk but easy to find. The hotel was small but it was very clean. We got the twin room with double decker beds. I was very happy to discover that the room also had an electric water kettle.

The bathroom space was very small with a tub but it was really clean. They provided complete bathroom amenities. The rooms also have free wifi so it was a big +++ because we were able to check our emails at night.

They allowed us to leave our luggage with them when we checked out to spend a night in Disneyland. The reception staff was very helpful as well.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again. Two thumbs up!

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, but it could'nt have been better !

The room is small, but very well furnished (airdryer, tv, tea, fridge, razors, toothbrush, kimono). The hotel situation is very intersting, only 5min walk from the metro and 10min walks from the Ueno Railway station which is connected directly to the Narita Airport.
There is a wifi, and free computers on the ground floor and you can borrow modem to connect freely from the room.
There is also a lot of usefull information about tokyo avaiable in the ground floor, and a kitchen with a microwave, and a loundry machine.

But the best point of the hotel is the staff. Very nice and very helpfull. We were there during Halloween, and they organised a party with Korean food and drinks. We had a very pleasant evening, and the next day, they had printed out some pictures as a gift.

So, if you want a cheap (for tokyo) hotel with a friendly staff and all you can need is furnished, don't hesitate, go there :)
