“Great value property in nice locaton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

I spent two nights at this property, immediately adacjent to Senso-ji, and would be happy to return. Decor nice, with dark blue foil wallpaper accents (as opposed to usual all-over beige of many Japanese hotel rooms), nice size by Japanese standards, all the usual amenities. Breakfast is very good buffet of Japanese and Western items. Many, many Western guests, and the most common language at breakfast was German. Staff accomodating and pleasant.

“Not far from the train station, comfortable, professional staff.”

Only issue was that 'non-smoking'' n many Japanese hotels means "will use deodorisor"to get rid of cigarette smell. while we noticed there was a cigarette smell we coped. The room was very comfortable and hotel staff professional and helpful.

“Absolutely awful, Dont stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

Dont stay here.... to avoid disappointment. My wife and I have been visiting Japan for 35 plus years and we have never experienced such poor hospitality.
Check in; Non smoking room not available.
Porterage; None. DIY baggage to your room.
Room; Hot and smelly. The a/c was not functioning properly, insufficeient to distrurb the flight of a feather. Outside Temp. 32 degrees. The floor standing fan made it bearable- if you could stand its constant drone.
Bathroom; an obvious afterthought not enough room to stretch your arms.
We were attending a dinner function and needed an iron to freshen up my shirt and my wifes evening dress. Mission impossible.............. No iron available ' for safety reasons ''.
Strange excuse considering the previous hotel provided complimentary irons and irioning boards on every floor.
By now management sensed my frustration and offered me the ' disabled room', but the array of chrome bars and hand rails where more suitable for an aspiring olympian gymnast.
In essance the hotel caters for Japanese business men on a night stop and backpacking groups. On each floor were vending machines for purchasing a card to watch blue movies accomanied by an array of various beers,
Western breakfast was a pre cooked small omellete and boiled sausages.
In every other Japanese hotel, from Ryokan to 5 star luxury we had experienced genuine unsurpassed Japanese hospitality. Sadly the staff at the Blue Wave, simply couldnt care less. It seems that we did not fit their ' normal guest ' profile.
If our Japanese friends hadnt booked this for us in good faith we would have gone elsewhere. But being aware of Japanese ' face' we bore this dreadful experience with typical British aplomb!
If in Asakusa I suggest you stay away from the Blue Wave Inn.

“Nicer than expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

Hotel decor was very modern. Staff was nice as expected and spoke English. The hotel's location was farther than expected from the train station. We walked so far and thought we were on the wrong street or even passed it. Turned out, we should have gotten off at Asakusa on the Ginza line which is closer than Asakusa-bashi. The a/c didn't work as well as we wanted. Even though most of the day we were touring the city, when we got to our room at night after fighting with humidity, a cool room was highly desired. The temp was around 79 degrees F. Pretty warm. Staff came up to check on it. Blower on only one side of the room worked and there were no other rooms we could transfer to. We managed by taking a shower and being really still for the rest of the night. The bathroom was TINY; think closet. I'm not a large person, but I could barely dry off without bumping into the wall or something. We had a room with 4 beds. The internet was free and the room & bath amenities were very nice. Overall experience for a first visit to Japan was really good despite the challenges. Would definitely return.

“Very comfortable,clean and well located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

The hotel has a simple but elegant ambience. Staff are warm and friendly. Rooms are well maintained and neat and clean. Location is excellent with tourist attractions (Sensoji shrine, Sumida river cruise) at walking distance, easy access to metro stations and shopping and utility stores nearby.
