Our family of eight stayed at the Blue Wave hotel Asakusa in October (2011) . We had 4 rooms, on different floors and each room had different features, and were different sizes, but all were extremely comfortable. We all had semi double rooms, so they had heaps of space compared with any other business hotel that we have stayed in Japan. Some of the rooms even had a lounge and table.
The front desk staff were extremely nice, and the service staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. The rooms were cleaned top to bottom every day of our 5 day stay. There were non smoking floors in this hotel, which is MAJOR on our list of good places to stay. We were caught up in the Qantas shut down and were uncertain as to what to do, but the hotel gave us a discounted rate an we were able to stay on for an extra 2 nights until we were able to arrange another flight back to Australia. I can highly reccommend this hotel for its peace, we also had a view over the Sensoji.. its position to he trains and convenience to Tokyo.
It cost about $25 to get a cab from here to Tokyo station, so getting all of our luggage to the station was made easy in 2 taxis. The hotel staff arranged the taxis to have English speaking drivers too (bonus).. Tokyo taxi drivers can be very funny, and we had jokes all the way to Tokyo station. Free internet was great especially as we had to find a flight and rebook our return trip home to Australia. The in house breakfast was fresh and very nice. Buffet style, western and Japanese choices.
