The Marutani annex is an easy walk from Ueno Station, and its inexpensive rooms are clean, modern, and equipped with all the usual features of a Japanese business hotel. Prices are around 7000 yen/night. The hotel is located in the middle of the dining and shopping district adjacent to Ueno Station. To find the hotel, walk straight out from Ueno Station's Central Exit, take the big crosswalk directly ahead, and enter the narrow street just to the left of the big OIOI store - the hotel is on the right after about 2 blocks. Only drawback: you must haul your bag up a short flight of steps to enter the hotel, no ramp. Very friendly and helpful staff.
