It was much better than the Sunshine City Prince Hotel that was hot and stuffy. The location is great but quite a bit away from one of my favorite stores--BIC Camera.

This was our first time in Japan and we were a little nervous about navigating around and finding things as we don't speak any Japanese. This hotel has a bus from the main airport straight to the foyer which only stops at one other hotel, it was really day to use and after a long flight was perfect. The hotel itself is very clean and the room very modern with a simple Japanese feel. The hotel has a little bakery which is perfect for snacks on your way out in the morning. Staff were amazing, with basic English, but very happy to help in any way they can. I recommend mainly because the train station which is linked to the hotel is a main hub in Tokyo so you can travel anywhere easily.
I booked this hotel last minute (same night) and came with zero expectations as the pictures in the review didn't look that good. I chose it due to its location. The Ikebukuro station is just a few steps giving you easy access to the Yamanote line and metro lines. The area has very good shopping ( high end department stores) and amazing cozy restaurants. Also there is a limousine shuttle to and from both airports that stops at the hotel. I was upgraded to renovated room (I think those are floor 15th and up) it was spacious for Japan standard, the double bed was comfy and had a dining table, kettle, tv, mini fridge, a good bathroom with an amazing shower but the best of all the view. The hotel and the room were spotless clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. I will make this hotel my first choice to stay in Tokyo.
Located in the quieter side of the Ikebukuro Station area, the hotel still offers excellent access to major department stores, train and subway stations and eateries (as in three minutes walking). An additional plus is that the Limousine Bus from Narita Airport stops here.
We had two Superior Twin rooms on the 23rd Fl. for eight nights in late October early November. The floor was renovated a few years ago but mine already had stains on the carpet and scuff marks on the wall. Still, the polite cleaning staff does a great job keeping them neat and tidy every day. There is free internet with cable supplied by the hotel but no wi-fi. Free English newspapers daily.
The front desk staff , concierge and even the bellgirls all spoke English. Looking around the lobby, I can tell that the guests are from all over the world. Locals stay here as well and use their conference, wedding and banquet facilities including a 'chapel' on the fifth floor outdoor terrace.
If important to you, do specifiy for non-smoking rooms/floors when you book. And if you're tired of looking for places to eat (other that the few pricey hotel restaurants), there are at least four convenience stores (7Elevens, Lawson, Family Mart) within a block of the hotel. The stores carry a bunch of ready-to-eat meals and drinks.
My recent points of reference for this review are Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku Hotel and the (now defunct) Mansions at Azabu Tower.
Central and quiet. The interior is nothing special but overall a good atmosphere and very internationally comfortable. Close to bars and shopping. Ask for an upgrade cause the view over the city is so great!
