“Best Hotel I'v Every Slept In”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

From the moment I walked in I felt special. Everyone greeting and welcoming you to the Ritz with smiling faces.

When I went to check in I was told my room was no longer available which made me a little angry as had paid extra for views of Tokyo Tower but before I could open my mouth to complain I was told I had been upgraded free of charge.

Our upgrade room was a suite on the 49 floor. The suite consisted of a corner living room with floor to roof windows over the city. The room had a great desk area with internet cable a sofa, chair, table and mega flat screen tv.

The bedroom had a window as the whole outside wall which had views of the city and mount Fuji from the bed. The bed was very comfortable with additional pillows in the cupboards if you wanted them (the bed had four massive ones to start with. Another huge tv on a set of drawers. The blinds lights etc can be controlled directly from your bed so great when you wake up.

The bathroom was huge. It had an amazing showers bundles of towels and a massive bath big enough for two people. If you happened to run out of towels an evening turn down services was on offer if you wanted.

The whole room was spotless and the cleaning staff had kept it in very good condition.

The hotel follows suit and is kept to the highest standards. The restaurant which we had breakfast in had stunning views over the city. My only moan about the who stay in the hotel was the breakfast. Some items such as bacon and sausages were cold. Im sure they would heat them for you but was a huge issue so didnt bother.

The hotel is located centrally in Roppongi which is great for a night on the town if not a little seedy. Its right ontop of a shopping centre and 5mins walk to the Mori Tower but really dont see the need to see as the views from the hotel are stunning and worth every penny for a special occasion.

“Amazing views but very poor service”

The views from this hotels are amazing and on a clear day you can see Fuji. The rooms were massive (especially for Tokyo standards) and the bathrooms are huge. The desk area is very practical and the bed extremely comfortable. From a room perspective, this place was well worth the money.

The biggest disappointment for me was the service. The Ritz is usually known for their outstanding service and in this area the front desk staff was lacking. I called the hotel in the morning to ask for an early check-in and they said it was possible; however, when I got to the hotel it was no longer and option and I had to wait. I realize that early check-in is not guaranteed but if they say something they need to live up to it. Also, I like to stay on the upper levels of the hotel and requested a room on a high floor and was given a room on the second floor of the hotel (which was 47 stories up) and was disappointed with the flippant response from the front desk staff which said all rooms are high here. The other disappointment for me was the gym. I was told that my room rate included gym access and when I went down to use the sauna- I was told it wasn't included which was disappointing. When i mentioned these complaints to the front desk manager, I was effectively brushed off.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Tokyo Tower

“Amazing hotel, awesome views of Tokyo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

I stayed here with my family for one night before travelling up to Nagano and it was amazing. Great views of the city from the sky lobby. Great staff, very helpful and very comfortable rooms with all the amenities. Great bar as well! Would love to come back!

“Perfect - if budget is not an issue this is the place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

The previous reviewers have detailed how great this place is.

The view from my 51st floor room was incredible - the whole city sprawling out below the window.

Super comfortable room with fab bathroom, practical desk area, giant TV, great bed, charming service - all in all a properly 5 star hotel. Loads of attention to detail which extended to the rest of the hotel including the nice touch of a free coffee station off the main lift lobby with cups and lids etc to go.

I ordered toast for breakfast and when it came the waiter asked me to check the temperature of the toast in case I wanted them to warm it up more with the toaster that they brought up with them just in case. First time that has happened to me!

Service most places in Tokyo is charming but this place has the edge on the competition.

Will definitely go again - it has certainly set the standard for others.

“Its a Ritz-Carlton.”

Everything is great - the bathroom is huge, and I have heard its the most earthquake proof building in Tokyo. Anyway, you can't go wrong here - except on price. I went for business in May 2011 and it was $400 ish a night, in November it was $1500+ so I am staying elsewhere.
