I stayed at the Hibiya Park hotel in the Shimbashi area of Tokyo and I have to say I found it very good value for Tokyo. The room (a twin) was probably the largest of various hotel rooms we stayed in during our visit to Japan, with a good size bathroom (Japanese style but great) and even a separate (Western) toilet. The hotel is only a little over 40 rooms in total but the staff are very friendly and helpful (and speak a little english). Rooms were clean and serviced daily. In terms of location it is only a short walk to Shimbashi station so we found it easy to find based on the map on their website - its also very near lots of restaurants as well as next door to a 7-Eleven store which has an ATM for international cash withdrawals. In effect the hotel is in a 9 story bank building (they have the top 5 floors) and it is relatively quiet despite it being near a main road. They have a small cafe which serves a buffet Japanese and Western style breakfast which was the best of the hotel breakfasts we had. We booked through large Japanese web travel website, who simply reserve the room and you pay at the hotel. But we got a good rate with breakfast included. If I had one minor criticism its that the air con could not be turned down very low. The temp was fine for us at that time of year but if you like it really cold its not that variable. The hotel has its own website with english language. Bear in mind this is not a Marriott or Holiday Inn style - there is no gym pool sauna etc - just a good value tourist or business hotel.
