“A cute little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2011

I stayed for a few nights with a friend.

Facilities: There was a health spa on site, but we didn't use it. Breakfast buffet inc in price was quite good. The free coffee and wifi in the lobby was a nice touch. Staff were very welcoming.

Rooms: Very clean. On the small side, bathrooms are separated from the room by frosted glass walls. The blinds did an excellent job of keeping the room dark, providing a great night' sleep.

Location: This hotel is walking distance from Akasaka metro, however be warned the quickest way is up a very steep hill. The area is quiet, but surrounded by restaurants, and walking distacne (about 20 mins) to Roppongi.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

We stayed for one week at this hotel and while the hotel is perfectly clean and the room-service superb, the hotel incomprehensibly doesn't seem to be much interested in international guests.

This starts with "Japanese-only" user manuals in the rooms and ends with staff, that is capable of only rudimentary interactions in English which lead to more than one inconvenient situation.

Even basic questions how to reach the airport or if a receipt can be made out are overstraining the helpful but in terms of language incapable employees.

The rooms aren't too big but spotless and with a superb view over Tokyo. The in-room service is average with a noisy AC and a nice panorama-window overlooking the city.

“Cheap, clean, safe but poor aircon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

The B Akasaka is fine - cheap, clean and small singles - but the airconditioning didn't seem to work and I had the window open in the middle of winter and the room was still boiling and it made it impossible to sleep.

The location in Akasaka is good - very close to the metro and a 10 minute walk to a fabulous supermarket at Tokyo Midtown shopping centre. There are lots of shops nearby. The hotel is up a very steep hill, so you should go towards the TBS building and look out for the elevator.

“The B is Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

The B Akasaka is a cute, modern boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo, about a 5 minute walk from the Akasaka station on the metro. The room we had was small, but everything was very efficiently placed, clean, and comfortable. It actually reminds me of the Loft brand hotels in the U.S.

I am also a huge fan of nice bathrooms, and our bathroom at the B had some great touches including a high-tech toilet with numerous sprays and a seat warmer. The shower was also excellent with about three different nozzle selections and great water pressure. Every staff member at the B that we spoke with is extremely polite, friendly, and helpful. There is a computer in the lobby of the hotel with free internet connection, and I think there is free internet connection in your room as well, but I didn’t have a laptop with me. An excellent choice if you don’t want to spend all your yen on accommodations.

“b akasaka - great place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! They spoke english, which was a beig help. They helped us call a cab and confirm tour reservations also! Very nice people who take care of you during your stay. We had daily breakfast buffet which was very nice, hot foods like eggs and bacon included.
Rooms were small but nicely appointed, with good showers and comfy beds. Also each room has an ethernet cable for connecting to the internet free of charge.
There was a little free coffee machine and convenient vending machines in the lobby.
Lots of dining and shopping nearby, as well as 3 nearby subway stations make this a convenient choice for traveling and seeing Tokyo.

To note: this hotel is at the top of a fairly large slope/hill. If you have baggage there IS an elevator tucked in near the TBS building stairs.
