If you need to be as close to Tokyo station as possible, but are on a normal (=not Shangri La or Four Seasons) budget, and you don't have huge luggage or expectations, this is for you. You'll get a clean, smart, very small, basic room for a reasonable price in probably the most accessible location in Tokyo.
Taxis may not find this immediately (it is indeed spitting distance from Tokyo station but you have to know which direction to spit...) so have the address/phone number with you to help the driver if he needs it. The entrance at street level is tiny - you take a lift to the second floor where the reception area is. Check in was efficient tho' might be a little clunkier if you don't speak Japanese. You prepay so check out was almost instantaneous.
The room was a standard size for a business hotel in Japan, i.e. tiny. But the bed was large enough, and comfortable, there's a work desk with a LAN cable (no wifi - but free and it worked well), a kettle (with a green tea sachet - if you want black tea or coffee, bring your own), and a "unit bath" with good quality fittings including a deep Japanese soaking bath, a great shower, and of course your prostate's best friend, an active toilet seat. The bathroom is slightly trendified with a window into the bedroom. Lighting is good, and adjustable from bright enough to get stuff done, to relaxing, to reading-only. A really well-designed use of space!
It's absolutely typical of a modern business hotel: a clean, efficient, machine for staying overnight.
I literally checked in, slept, and checked out, so didn't try the cafe, which looked quite nice. But there's no shortage of food and drink options nearby anyway. As usual with a business hotel, your minibar needs are catered for by vending machines, and you can borrow a trouser press (and of course there's a toothbrush and razor set in the room as standard).
I paid a little over JPY12,000 for the night, which is upper-middle pricing for a good basic business hotel these days. A similar hotel in a lesser location might be JPY9,000, and the Metropolitan Marunouchi (close by and one notch up) would be around JPY20,000 at the moment. So you're getting appropriate value for money here.
If you need a simple place to catch some ZZZZs before or after travel - you're in luck!
