“Compact but functional and ideally situated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Cheaper (as low as $60 per night) than the famous bullet hotels and obviously more conducive to standing up, the Horidome has small but very functional nearly-new rooms. Private bathroom, multi-functional and fun-to-use toilet, storage for suitcases under the bed, TV, fridge, and no wasted space. Free morning coffee in the lobby and a convenience store next door, which means you can have your continental breakfast in your room. Quiet neighborhood. Walking distance (20 minutes or less) to Tokyo main station, two other train stations and five or six metro stations. A must for the budget crowd.

Room Tip: If muffled street noise may be a problem, rooms in the rear are very quiet.

“Great Place to Stay”

This was my second time at the Horidome Villa, and just as great as the first time. First of all, the hotel's in a convenient location with easy airport access; taking the Keisei Skyliner from Narita to Ueno Station and then transferring to Tokyo Metro, I was at the hotel in no time. And yes, the rooms are tiny, but I've stayed in tinier rooms in Japan, so I don't mind. The super clean, small space is well equipped: Flat screen TV, hot water kettle, bath robes, slippers, and high-speed, wired internet access. The staff is unfailingly helpful and friendly--nothing is ever a problem. Also enjoy the complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning, thoughtfully available until noon! Lots of restaurants within a few blocks, some of them open 24 hours. And with plenty of transportation option also nearby, including JR and Tokyo Metro, getting around town is a breeze. It's also an easy walk to Akihabara or Mitsukoshi's ornate flagship store. All in all, a great stay, and would return anytime.

“Good Price - Good Location!!”

We stayed in this hotel for four nights and paid 20,000 Yen in total and this price can be considered cheap in Tokyo considering that it is in good location. Expect the rooms in Japan to considerably small in size especially the bathroom. We booked for a double room ( which actually would say is "semi-double" ) that had hairdryer, tea set, refrigerator, internet access, slippers and bathrobe. I would warn everyone though that the bed is a junior size which would just fit two average built person. The bathroom is also small as expected anywhere in Japan but this hotel provides shampoo, hair conditioner and body wash in a dispenser- so you can use as much as you want. There are also spare toothbrush, razor, hair bond, comb, candies, shower cap that you can take from the reception.
The receptionist can also speak enough good English to understand and guide. It's about 5-7 minutes walk to the Kodemmacho Station and if you were to exit, use Exit 3 and turn right and about three blocks away is the hotel. It is accessible to restaurants too and there is a nice restaurant right at the corner of the Exit 3 where they serve western and japanese food and is quite a good resto, the waitress speaks very good english too so it won't be a problem.

Room Tip: If you booked for a SMOKING Room, please take note that their windows can't be opened. You have...

“Efficient - great location”

I stayed three nights in this hotel. As any japanese hotel, the room was small, but I have seen smaller places which charges more. Location is great, near Kodemmacho subway station. A good alternative is to take the JR trains at Snin-nihombashi station, about 6 minutes from this hotel. You can buy a all-day JR train pass for 740 yens.
I didn't have a chance to use, but there was a coin laundry in the forth floor which is great.
Good complimentary coffee and wi-fi in the lobby.

“Good for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

We only paid 5000 yen a night (room only) for this hotel, which for a Friday & Saturday night in Tokyo is amazing! It only has 2 stars I presume because it doesn't have bar/restaurant/spa etc. However, for us this didn't matter. All we need is a clean, well furnished room and free internet, which this hotel provides (in-room wired internet, or free wifi in the lobby).

My only criticisms are the size of the room. At the start of our holiday we stayed at the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku, in one of their small double rooms, which was far larger than this room we have in Horidrome. The bed is very small, and is difficult to sleep in with two people. The room is also smaller, and there are very few places to store your bags. Fine if you are here for a couple of nights, but this isn't for longer stays.

Maybe I was also spoilt by the location of the Sunroute Plaza in Shinjuku, but the Horidrome doesn't feel quite so well connected. However, it is close to Tokyo station (20 min walk).
